Great place, welcome is perfect, view astonishing. Do not expect 5 stars luxury but real contact with nature, people and feeling at home. We stayed three nights: boat trip is great (do ask for standing paddle with it), kayak rides (use moustic repealant), layed on the beach and near the pool. Rooms ars small but very cosy.

We just spent a weekend at Pousada Picinguaba... and we were positively surprised! The place is a colonial house in the hill, hidden in the middle of tropical forest... facing Pincinguba's bay, north of Ubatuba. The view is pretty amazing! We arrived Friday late night... dinner time was finished but they manage to serve us when we arrived. Breakfast is...

This pousada is in an absolutely idyllic location above the most beautiful bay. The views are spectacular from every angle. The staff are so welcoming and hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. The road access is difficult but the staff carry the bags for the last stretch so no problem really. This feels like staying in a home -...

This Bed-and-breakfast is extremely friendly. Quite confortable, it is run by a wonderful and interesting elderly coupl. Be ready to exchange experiences with them, talk art, literature and social awareness. The owner's daughter is a reputable astrologist. 30 meters from a beautiful fishermen's village beach, where, unfortunately, a suspicious brook dumps its waters ( swimmers don't seem to care though).Take...

3 hours by car from Rio. The last 3 km's very bad road. The last 250 m: no road at all: the hotel personnel carries your luggage through the beach sand and up a steep hill. But what you than discover is worth it all the way! Like a dream location. Nice and friendly and very personal service; maybe not...

It is a colonial style building on the slope overlooking the fisherman's beach. It has 10 rooms with a lot of personalized attention to the guest. Meals were good with an interesting choice of international wines ( I would have liked to have a selection of Brazilian wines to try). Unfortunately it rained during the 4 days I was there...

It's a real treat to stay at this Pousada. The staff are exceptionally attentive. They even mailed my partner's sunglasses to us when they found them after we left (without us asking). The setting is stunning, the food is fabulous, and everything is thought of to make your stay fun and relaxing.

Loved the hotel. Great location which felt remote enough but was also near the local village where simple meals for lunch plus cheap beers could be bought. Our room was on the small side and the air-conditioning needed resetting to be cool enough. Small balcony with views of the pool. Great swimming pool and deck with lovely views across the...

We stayed for 3 night in Feb 2016 - the food was great, imagine fishing during the day and them serving it for lunch! Amazing dinners, friendly staff - not a place to go if you need to be entertained with activities. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - with only about 20 people staying there at a time...

We stayed four nights, enjoying a lazy end to our vacation with a group of 12 friends. We had mostly the run of the place including the owner's house adjacent to the main hotel. The style is simple, chic, and well suited to the tropical climate. The hotel was an old estate and the owners are renovating other houses in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel Picinguaba overlooks a peaceful bay at the heart of the Natural Park of Serra do Mar, the tropical coastal forest running between Rio and São Paulo, about half an hour's drive south of Paraty. It is the only charming hotel in a 30km radius. It faces the sea and a 3 km-long protected sandy beach. The hotel offers (09) nine comfortable rooms all opening onto the natural surroundings and the sea, including a dream honeymoon Suite with en suite jacuzzi and a breathtaking view of the ocean. The local road stops at the beach and one has to walk the last 250m to the hotel, nestled in the forest.Everything here is attuned to the spirit of the place, with nothing to disturb nature's magic: no TV or telephone in the rooms, no Internet, no air-conditioning. This place is for you to be in a different world, the only sounds are the wind in the palm trees and the sea gently lapping the shore.Pousada Picinguaba was selected in HIP HOTELS as one of the 80 most extraordinary hotels around the world and was featured in National Geographic Stay List 2011. ... more   less
