The location is great.Aparentely safe and pleasant. There is now a shopping center "Cidade de São Paulo close by. The room is clean but old and decay. The breakfast is varied and tastefull. What really upset me was to be charge R$45 for the sauna and pay another R$80 for a guest. The staff was helpful specially a young lady...

Had a very mixed experience staying here, with both extremes of the scale - from obsequiousness to downright rudeness. All in all though, my overall feedback is that this is hotel which has very definitely seen better days. The lifts are currently being renovated - which is good given the fact that they are open glass and go up to...

I have stayed here numerous times, it has both good and bad qualities. It seems like there was a Hotel Blueprint for sale back in the late 70s that called for the high atrium throughout this building. I have seen in other hotels in Sao Paulo and even as far away as Mexico. So let's start with the good: Good...

Very good, but old hotel. They are refurbshing the elevators, which is a good thing because it can take a while to go up or down from the rooms in peak hours. The gym with a pool right in the middle is a plus. Location is definitely the highest point for this hotel - right in the heart of the...

The Maksoud Plaza staff are kind and courteous. The Maksoud Plaza hotel is tired, dingy, out of date, a bit smelly, and not all that nice. It's a solid 2.5 - 3.0 stars, at best. If you factor in the horrible food buffets for breakfast and dinner, the scores are lower. If you're a western traveler, skip this place and...

I thought everything was in order. Very clean and everything worked. Bathroom was very large. Had a large shower/tub combo. No carpet so one knows the floors are very clean. Nice amenities. This used to be the pristine hotel in Sao Paulo back in the 80's but a few family disagreements and lack of management degraded its position in the last 10-20 years (it is now managed by Accor chain). Despite that, after expecting a run-down hotel, to my surprise my 3-day stay was very comfortable and with plenty of amenities. I...

Staying in Bela Vista

Neighbourhood Profile
Bela Vista
Known for its Italian cantinas, Bela Vista is the place to go for great pasta. Also called “Bixiga”, the area is an important cultural part of the city, with the bohemian and the religious costumes of its inhabitants on full display. In August, the large Nossa Senhora Achiropita party fills the streets with a variety of Italian food and music. You can experience the liveliness of the neighbourhood walking through the antiquities fair at Dom Orione Square or visiting the “Brazilian Caminito”, a version of the Argentinian street complete with colorful buildings. Bela Vista is also home to the traditional samba school “Vai-Vai”. Buy a ticket to a rehearsal and get a taste of what Carnival is like.
