This is practically a hotel with a very good location. During my first day I just walked for 15-20mins to Praca Da Se (Catedral Metropolitana) and Liberdade (Japanese quarters). The next day I also walked to the area where Edificio de Altino Arantes is located....More
This old building feels like an old 5-star hotel and is well maintained. The staff is friendly and reception staff speaks English. Wifi is available free of charge and the hotel is situated near the subway-entrance (Republica).
Rooms are well maintained as well and fitted...More
Outdated and tired, this one at least has the benefit of once having been a first-rate facility years' ago. Like of lot of hotels named Gran in Latin America, it's well-built and has been maintained. With many hotels located on the periphery of Praca Republica,...More
I stayed here because of a recommendation of a business colleague. At 135 reais it is quite inexpensive but the hotel being an old established hotel, it does look quite tired. The rooms are large if a little old looking. There is a work desk...More
The hotel is located a couple of minutes from the Republica subway station. This location is very central and convenient. The problem is that the neighborhood is pretty dangerous at night, so it's not the best feeling to walk there after dark.

Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that
inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
