Me and a friend travelled south america for 3 months, staying in dozens of different hostels of extremely varying quality and I have to say that we both agreed this one was the best overall experience. Whilst it may not have been the best in some categories - The bathrooms were a bit small and not super clean, the rooms...

Tucarno House Backpackers is on a quiet residential street in Lagoa, the party hub of Florinopolis. The hostel is very clean, attended to throughout the day with great bar and outdoor facilities, perfect to relax after a night out. The no noise policy and closing of the bar at 11pm ensure those who want to sleep can and the daily...

This hostel has a large number of awards on the wall touting it as the best hostel in Brazil/World with friendly staff and a great atmosphere etc... But we found that its living on its heyday as the last awards were from 2009/2010, with photos and thank you notes from guests also dating back to this time. The 'family feel...

I recently stayed in Tucano house for nearly 2 weeks and completely fell in love with it. The quality of accommodation is good but Tucano is much more than a place to stay. Every night there are well priced (usually 18 reals) meals that are incredible - nearly everyone in the hostel eats them every night. So it's incredibly easy...

They learn your name and make you feel like a friend. Good and fairly clean rooms and bathrooms, amazing dinner every night with different themes. Great daytours with funny...

This was easily the best hostel I've ever been to; especially in South America. The facilities are clean and well-kept. Great atmosphere and fantastic food. In fact, I still carry their business card in my wallet, and I've been back in Canada for 6 months now. I have recommended Tucano House to many people, and I will continue to do...

This might be a great option for single people willing to make friends and havê some fun. It fits very well for backpackers but if you're going to Floripa with your girlfriend is better stay away. I rented the private room and is not worth the price (R$ 200). The room looks a bit old, the ventilator barely works and...

Having travelled Brazil and stayed in numerous hostels i can say without doubt this was the best experience we had as a group. The rooms were clean the food was excellent and good value. The staff were all lovely and always very helpful. One of the staff Sylvia took our group out after she had finished work to show us...

Thank you Suellen, Lila, Sol, Adriano, Paula, Caio, Marco and Joana for the great time we had at your hostel. Suellen especially was very patient with all my stupid questions, and Manau, the bartender, was a trooper. So what if he cut me off the last night we were there. I WAS drinking too much. I also would like to...

“Actually it's what to avoid in case they have not cleaned it properly yet. The bottom bunk bed right beside the door to the balcony in their biggest room ( the one with the attic) that I slept in for one night smelled of urine. Im guessing somebody had a very drunken accident there some time ago. Avoid it if you can.”
