The hotel itself is nicely situated in Santa Teresa, just minutes away from the vibrant art boutiques, bars and restaurants in the area. We booked room no. 9 and it was one of the best rooms we ever stayed in- huge windows with beautiful vistas of Santa Teresa, comfortable bed and truly amazing toiletries (they were sourced from Granado -...

Casa Cool Beans in Santa Teresa is beautiful. My partner and I spent over 5 weeks travelling around South America and our stay here was the absolute highlight of our trip. The Location: Santa Teresa is 15 min by taxi to Copacabana / Ipanema and is not difficult to arrange. Santa Teresa is a hillside cobblestone street area with great...

Thank you for your review and positive comments. We thoroughly disagree with your assessment after your mugging. We have had 5 or 6 people mugged or that had an attempted mugging in the almost 3 years we have been open; that means thousands of guests have passed through our doors without a security/safety problem. We attribute this success to our...

It’s no surprise to our party of two couples that Casa Cool Beans (CCB) has so many superior reviews. It was fate for us to discover CCB on Trip Advisor since one of the (now adult) kids in our family used to use the phrase “cool beans” all the time. We stayed at CCB for 4 nights upon arriving in...

Wow, what a great place! The site was beautiful and unique, the staff was super friendly, and Lance was straight up invaluable. My wife and I traveled to CCB by shuttle from the city of Paraty, the trip is supposed to take about 4 hours but due to some horrendous traffic once we hit the outskirts of Rio it took...

Pros: Beautiful property with interesting contemporary art throughout. Big rooms, very clean. Sergio is very friendly and helpful. Cons: Location isn't the best. Some cabs don't want to take you home. Also, Lance, the owner/host can be, to be polite, a bit grating. He apparently nightly reads the Big Book of Superlatives, because everything he recommends is "amazing," "spectacular," or,...

We aim to exceed our guests' expectations in every case. There are times when regardless of what, when or how we do things, some guests simply will not be happy. Unfortunately, you and your partner who wrote the "not that cool" review were some of these impossible guests.

After a tour of about one month in Brazil this was definitely one of the best places where we stayed. The team is very enthusiast from the beginning to the end, albeit with the typical American fantastic, wonderful and amazing which are still strange to Europeans :-) We did not opt for the pic-up from the airport because it was...

This was our first accommodation on arrival in Brazil (our first stop on a 4 month tour of South America) and the guesthouse definitely lived up to our expectations from reading other excellent reviews and looking at the beautiful photos on the website. As our flight arrived into Rio in the evening, we had to avail of the after-hours pickup...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
