I have been staying there whenever I am in Rio for the last 10 years. Obviously it is a good value, but more than anything I really like the location. The last two times, however, I wasn't very happy as the rooms I was given were substandard. Also the wifi doesn't work too well which is a no-go for me...

I am a frequently visitor of Rio. This hotel was very good. Location is perfect and staff is friendly. The room could be a little bit more cozy but it's fine anyway. The neighborghood is Arpoador, which means you are 5 minutes walk from either Copacabana or Ipanema. Perfect.

It's hard to think of a better place to stay in Rio de Janeiro than this region between the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Ipanema. The hotel, though, has problems. The staff was always very polite and attentive, but several little and medium problems occurred during the stay. From the lousy breakfast improvised while the kitchen was being refurbished (and that...

The location is great....between Ipanema and Copacabana. The staff was super-friendly and very helpful. The room was a decent size with separate lounge and a small kitchen. Rates were very high over New Year but an included beakfast and a bottle of sparkling wine for New Year's Eve were nice touches. The public areas are newly done and look good....

We stayed at the Mercure Arpoador for 2 nights. The hotel is located at the edge of Copacabana and Ipanema and both are easily accessible from here. The staff of the hotel is fantastic and probably the best thing about the hotel and everyone can speak English. Danielle in reception was just par excellence. We had our room on the...

Central location between Copa & Ipanema. Metro is couple blocks away & taxi stand across the street. Nice size apartment with decent balcony view. Full amenities. Late night convenience store next door. Staff is excellent. My new favorite place in Rio!

I stayed at Mercure Arpoador with two other friends right after the Olympics. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in wasn't big but it was really comfortable for 3 people. Breakfast is amazing, with lots of options and everything taste good. The fresh tropical juices were the best. The only thing I didn't like was...

Our stay was impeccable. We loved it... we were celebrating our honeymoon and we were astonishingly well recepctioned. The room was great and location is spectacular… you can easily stroll either ways – Ipanema or Copacabana. About 10min walk from the fortress and another 10min walk distance to the metro. Perfect spot.

My room was a good size, functional one bedroom suite coupled with a kitchenette with appliances good enough for a longer stay. Yet some details were disappointing : It has a somewhat strange long , narrow shape. As for the furniture, my room had a dark sofa bed covered with a velvet-like fabric that was both anti-esthetic and anti-hygienic.Curtains were...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
