Great place to stay! Friendly owner, beautiful garden, good breakfast, wlan available! Only little drawback: matress seemed to be a bit old and worn down. Little investment here would add value. All in all: Recommended!

Ideal guesthose to stay in Santa Teresa: you really feel like staying and living in the Santa Teresa neighbourhood in a house that was beautifully renovated and contains the grandeur that many houses in Santa Teresa have had in the past. Although some houses in that neighbourhood are decayed a bit, this makes the heart and soul of Santa Teresa...

We had a wonderful time staying at this guesthouse. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the hosts are excellent giving good information about all you want to know. We planned to stay only two nights, but ended up staying there our whole Rio-time (5 days). We were lucky not to come in high season so we book extra nights! Santa Theresa...

Looking for 1 night stay, we saw availability at the guesthouse site & booking.com and made the reservation at the guesthouse site. More than 2 days after making the reservation, we got an email from Guido (owner) informing us that there was an error in the hotel site & at booking.com (2 nights minimum stay), asking us what we would...

We are very proud of having great reviews of guests who were able to enjoy our service and a stay with us. For more than 15 years living in a 1932 mediterranean mansion, I decided to share the experience of living in this wonderful home with guests. Guesthouse Bianca is a small Bed and Breakfast with only 3 bedrooms and...

Guido and his team made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. We had prepared badly for Rio and Guido baled us out, thank you ! Our room had a superb balcony view across the water to Sugarloaf. The breakfasts were substantially memorable .

We were very much looking forward to staying here after reading so many positive reviews. However we thought it was an OK stay rather amazing. The location is lovely, in Santa Teresa with a great view. The house itself is beautiful. We stayed in the sugarloaf room. The bed was poor with basic sheets. The shower was a bit rubbish-...

This is a small guesthouse with only three rooms. It is like staying in someone's beautiful home. Guido the owner made us feel very welcome. The house looks 19th century but was built in the 1930's. It has wonderful furniture and a beautiful garden. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the garden and consists of wonderfully fresh fruits and freshly...

This is an incredible place with all kinds of surprises. Not only is it beautiful - with lush gardens and an exquisite interior, there are tiny little amenities that you don't see in the average guest house stay. Bottled water in the room, small vase of flowers in the bathroom, make up mirror, quality sheets and towels. Every detail has...

This B&B is on the edge of the Santa Teresa district, the edge closest to the city centre that is. Location-wise we were extremely happy with Guesthouse Bianca. The Gloria metro stop is about 10 minutes walk, compared to potentially up to 30 minutes for some Santa Teresa locations. This makes a big difference as the (steep downhill) walk is...

St Teresa is in my opinion the best place to stay in Rio and the location of Pousada Bianca is no exception. Stunning views, we could see the sugar loaf mountain from our room windows! Simple rooms, some with shared bathrooms but beautifully furnished and designed. Gorgeous 1930s' house and lush garden. Fantastic breakfast with a good variety of fruit,...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guesthouse Bianca is one of the only places in all of Rio de Janeiro from which you can enjoy a true bohemian neighborhood, the chic beaches of the south, the bustling city center, the infamous viewpoints, and the non stop nightlife - all from the luxury of a private home surrounded by a tropical garden.  The newly renovated home was built in 1932 and is located on a quiet residential street in the heart of Santa Teresa, considered by many to be the most charming cultural and historical neighborhood in all of Rio.  Guests are only a 5 minute walk to countless restaurants, bars, shops, bus and tram stops, and just a 10 minute walk to Rio's ever expanding metro system. The three rooms are exquisitely appointed and furnished, two of which boast stunning views of the Bay of Guanabara and Sugar Loaf.  The private guest entrance is through the lush garden, where you can find mango, coconut and goiaba trees, bromeliads, orchids, not to mention countless tropical birds and the occasional monkey. All of the rooms have elegant private bathrooms, inlaid hardwood floors, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and free wireless Internet. On the ground floor, guests have their own dining room and a self-catering kitchenette where they are welcome to prepare light meals and drinks.  Guesthouse Bianca's gracious host, Guido, is a native Cariocan and has lived in Rio all his life.  He speaks English, French and Italian and is always available to give tips on Rio, or join guests for a homemade piece of cake or a cachaca on the terrace. ... more   less
