I stayed in this hotel for 30 days due to work. Gaivota was one of the media hotels for the Olympic Games, i.e. media buses stopped right in front to pick up people with media credentials to MPC/IBC/MTM. Some local colleagues told me that this hotel used to be a "love motel." First of all, I have to stress the...

Stayed on recommendations from Brazilian friends and generally happy with stay but unfortunately I do have some small criticisms. The electronic card system for bedroom access is rubbish and cards needed resetting 2-3 times a day. Bathroom is very tired with towel rail falling off wall and shower not very clean. The breakfast was very good with good range of...

Service was splendid staff very helpful. The hotel itself is quite dated and in desperate need of a makeover. I dare say it may have not been maintained since opening. Having said all of that, the hotel is in a good location, budgeted nicely and makes a stay in Barra "on-the-cheap" a good deal. Continental breakfast is included in the...

a pleasant surprise, clean, food was very good in the restaurant, quiet location but near a great local neighborhood without the chaos or rio central....the comforter could using a changing, clean but tired and worn, and the doors could be a bit more noise reduction, so bring ear plugs, although it was not a majour issue as generally it was...

The Gaivota was a one night stay on business. For the price it was acceptable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is a bit older but seems room by room they are renovating. The breakfast was fruit, bread-n-cheese, eggs were available coffee and various fruit juices. All in all it was a value for the price compared...

Forget the pictures... I booked the hotel based on the pictures but when I arrived in the room... another reality! First of all, the bathroom was 1x1 meters. There is no glass or curtain to avoid the water to wet all the bathroom, including your bedroom. Are you looking for a clean place? Forget it! Are you looking for a...

We stayed in early November 2013 for a week while attending a conference at the Windsor Barras. Good value for money by Rio standards. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. The staff were always friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

I stayed there during my Rock in Rio time. Service and breakfast were really good. When I needed a cab to go to the airport and there were non available on the phone, they went out of their way to get me one from the street!

Stayed here for a week in early October for a business conference nearby. Was quite nervous given some other reviews but was really very pleased to say that I had a great experience at the hotel. The wifi connection was far stronger than I anticipated, and it sounds as if it was better than at two other nearby hotels my...

From my point of view is a very expensive hotel when you compare the rate against the service and quality of the room.

“get a room away from the elevator and higher up, buy your soap and shampoo in the grocery store down the street, as the bars are very small as are the shampoo provided--- and if you do want local food/candy, procure it at the supermarket, much cheaper, and a great walk. I would def. stay here again.”

“the hotel is located oddly, on the outside of a traffic circle...the parking-FREE- is located by continuing just past the left corner of the hotel. Not much to look at, gravel lot with a wall and security. Will likely stay there next time I overnight in Tijuca.”
