My stay was far too short in this lovely peaceful villa with lovely garden, pool and bar area and lovely staff. Although on a steep hill, the yellow taxis are cheap and it was a wonderful refuge from the bustling streets of Rio. The nearby historic tram terminus gives a free ride down to the town centre for museums, banks,... More

I stayed already the 3rd. time here in this absolutly wonderful Pousada in the artistic neighborhood of Santa Teresa. All the staff where wonderfull from Reception, to roommate and gardene/watchman. Everytime I come back I feel like coming back home. The Breakfast is enormous you won't finish all. And fresh prepared and no buffet which I really prefer. The Villa... More

This is a relatively simple accomodation run by a French-Brazilian duo in the heart of Santa Teresa. It makes for a steep climb after your day, which is the only negative thing I have to say about this place. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored old villa, with a nice swimming-pool. Rooms are simple and either with fan or... More

I stayed here for 2 days. Masterful garden to chill out and tasty breakfast. This place is not only clean and comfortable, but it also has a great style! The location is well connected to the rest of the city and seemed to be safe -- i didn't have any issue in the neighborhood.

From having brakfast in the middle of nature, to swimming in the pool, to the rooms that look like a movie set, Villa Laurinda is a beatuiful place where you only find nice and interesting people. Santa Teresa, the neighborhood where Villa Laurinda is, is beautiful from it's colonial architechture to the small bars and beautiful restaurants you find. It's... More

It was wonderful to stay in this beautiful Villa. The staff was outstanding, the breakfast great and the rooms charming. We can highly, highly recommend this hideaway! The pool is very inviting and perfect to swim a few rounds before breakfast.

This is a wonderful, peaceful, colonial house perfectly located. Within a few minutes walk there’s a great bar, excellent food, great music, and a chemist with an ATM. The price was great too. That’s the practical stuff. Staying here was casual, low key and relaxed like being welcomed into a family. This place is not for the person who demands... More

The people of Villa Laurinda are very nice and helpful! The breakfast every morning after a swim in the pool is delicious with fresh food and fruits. The owners are artists and we had inspiring talks with them. We sure will come back! As filmmakers of the Uranium Filmfestival it was the best way to experience Rio the Janeiro.

The house in and of itself was alright, but I was shocked at how appalling the service was. My husband and I organize group travel for yoga retreats, and we had brought a group from the UK to this Villa. I am only so happy that they did not speak portuguese, so they were not privy to how the owner... More

The house and garden is very well maintained, and decorated with love and art. The pool is a real retreat after a hot day strolling through Rio city. Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
