There are many good things about Casa da Carmen e do Fernando. It is in a great location (that could easily be described as Lapa or Gloria as well as Santa Therasa), the rooms are well furnished and there are fantatic views. Carmen and Fernando are lovely people and gave us all the help we needed during our stay and...

There isn't much else that I can add to everyone's reviews - I agree with them all - it was a fantastic experience, It was clean, comfortable and a home to come into at whatever time - sometime in the early hours generally! I had a great double room, with en-suite and air conditioning unit. I opened the doors and...

Beautiful, peaceful and warm comes to mind when I think of Carmen and Fernando. My artist friend from São Paulo recommended us to visit Rio, and stayed in Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa is a bohemian neighborhood with exotic cuisine, beautiful artisans, and historic colonial buildings all around. Our hosts Fernando and Carmen are gracious. Their house stunning view of Guarabarra...

I stayed with Carmen and Fernando about a year ago in their lovely house in Santa Teresa. The house is beautiful and was decorated by Fernando who is an artist. I loved the view of the whole of Guarabarra bay, and it even has a swmming pool on the deck!! Most of all I loved the hospitality of Carmen and...

I'm not able to separate my experience of Rio from my experience of staying at Fernando and Carmen's house. First you have the captivating impression of an astonishing place, decorated by an artist in much more than just a 'decorative' way. Passion and freedom are stamped all over the house. A superbe taste, harmony between the inside and the outside....

I passed in 2004 and 2005 several weeks at Carmen & Fernando's Bed & Breakfast exploring Rio de Janeiro. For me it was the perfect place to stay, St. Teresa is such a nice neighbourhood, it's quite but still near to Lapa, easy to reach by metro and the view over the city center of Rio at night is breathtaking....

First the location of the B&B - in one direction a short walk up hill into Santa Teresa for its quaint cobbled streets, views, bars, resturants, shops and the bondi street car into Rio Centre. In the other direction a short walk down into Gloria and Lapa for buses, bars, metro and music. Entering the B&B you are welcomed into...

I stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed, Carmen and Fernando have a beautiful house a short way up Santa Teresa with gorgeous views of Guanabara bay and the city, an easy walk to Gloria and Centro and the bonde tram. But even better is the service which is warm, friendly and super helpful, anywhere...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
