My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Pousada da Marquesa. The staff was friendly, but only Bruno spoke English -- and he was very helpful. The facility has a great deal of character with lots of antiques and quaint rooms. Our room (number 7) was adequate, but not extraordinary. We enjoyed renting a private boat (the Latitude at barcolatitude@hotmail.com)...

This hotel is full of antiques. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, and the areas around the hotel for relaxing were lovely - like a country home. The staff, thought they spoke very little English, were friendly and helpful. The outside bar was charming and the barman made great caipirinhas. Close to the town and altogether a beautiful place to...

I loved that place with its decorative items on the common grounds, beautiful paintings and garden. The dining room was beautiful, too and the breakfast buffet very enjoyable. Rooms, however, are furnished a bit too scarcely as there is not much space for hanging or putting things - not even a chair nor table. But no regrets as the whole...

I was there two nights and when we got up very late they had there wonderful breakfast still there for us. They knew we had not been there yet. It was great to take a midnight dip in the pool in there beautiful garden as well. There are many resturants and bars in just a block or two of there...

Can't believe it is the same pousada.... This is another Brazilian gem. Decorated with fascinating antique memorabilia it has a unique and elegant atmosphere. Our bedroom was a good size and always delightfully cool. Breakfast was first class. The pousada has a lovely courtyard that contains a pool, a bar and plenty of sun loungers. The location is perfect. It...

Unfriendly and unwelcoming reception, tiny dark and gloomy bedroom full of mosquitos and holes all around the window netting meant to keep them out. Poor breakfast without any special touches. Such a shame as the outside space around the pool is gorgeous - lovely antique furniture, plenty of shady spots to relax and lovely service - the only thing to...

This is a great pousada located on the main square in the (traffic-free) old quarter of Paraty. The property is tastefully decorated with interesting antiques, in keeping with the town's colonial architecture. There is a pretty courtyard garden and small pool. Service is informal and friendly. Our room (number 20) was large, sleeping up to 4 people. Beds are antiques...

Fantastic decor + atmosphere; Friendly, professional service, Great breakfast, Reliable wifi; We did have staff for English translation and they even arranged a great schooner tour for us directly--One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed--Ideally located, close to shops and galleries and restaurants; Paraty is a delight!

This pousada is in the very centre of Paraty on the main square - ideal for restaurants and for wandering around this charming old town. The Pousada and its garden are beautiful and the staff charmingly helpful but do not speak English. However we stayed over a holiday weekend and there was very noisy music in the square after the...
