Detailed Reviews
My family stayed at the Super 8 for two nights while visiting Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in mid-August. This place was about $50 cheaper per night than motels/hotels in Bayfield. The Super 8 is about 20 minutes from Bayfield.
We don't expect a lot when we rent motel rooms. We're typically out during most of the day. We look for a safe place we can come to in the evening, shower, sleep, get some breakfast in the morning. This place does just that.
I'm not nitpicky in the sense of seeing a speck of mildew and thinking the entire place is unclean. I do look around the room first before my family gets settled in though. If there are notable bad things in the room, I'd request a different room. This room didn't have anything bad stand out that I saw. Place seemed reasonably clean.
Breakfast was meh. All cold items, nothing hot. Applesauce cups, yogurt cups, Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, muffins, and milk/orange juice/apple juice. It was still something, and as I'm not a huge breakfast person it was enough to get me started in the morning.
I would've rated this a four, but dropped it to 3 for two reasons:
1) Since we were staying two nights, I asked at check-in about getting new towels the next day. The lady at the desk said to leave the towels outside our door to get new ones. We did just that, and when we came back later on the second day (past supper time), our towels were still on the floor outside our door and my wife had to ask for new towels. She was given new towels though without a fuss. (The next morning, the morning we left, the towels had been picked up some point during the night)
2) The toilet flushes horribly. It's one of those where the water swirls around a little bit before it actually goes down, so there's no power at all to the flush. So the first night one of my kids clogged it (sometimes they use too much toiler paper, but I don't think that should've clogged it). Thankfully the lady at the desk was able to get me a plunger, otherwise we wouldn't have had a usable toilet on our first night and I likely would've requested a new room if possible. Turns out the toilet clogged two more times after that, each time needing the plunger. The third time I used the plunger was when I really started to believe the issue was with the toilet.
So overall an economical choice (compared to other area lodging) and it got the job done. Staff was responsive when I had requests. If I were to stay in the area again I'd prefer something a little nicer, but given the options and prices would be okay staying again at the Super 8.

Stayed one night with hubby as we were going to a show at Big Top Chautauqua. The free shuttle that goes to the Big Top stops at the Super 8 and gets you to the show 45 minutes before showtime. Perfect!
The check in process was speedy and friendly. The room was clean and had plenty of towels and decent bathroom amenities. The fridge was spacious and had a small freezer. Bed and linens clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed the pool, which is open until midnight for adults. The pool water was clean - not like the cloudy questionable water so many budget hotels can have. Small hot tub but again, clean.
Breakfast had a variety of mostly cold items - fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, cereal, juice but also had a toaster and waffle maker for a hot breakfast. The food was fresh and the breakfast area was clean. A hotel worker was constantly cleaning and restocking while we were in the breakfast area.
Every hotel staff that we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with the stay.

The location of this hotel was nice. We were able to easily walk to dinner (we were traveling by motorcycle) and get to the downtown area. The hotel is across the street from the lake, but none of the rooms really face that way. Unfortunately, their breakfast is very, very basic. We stayed in 8 different hotels on this trip, and Super 8 is waaaay behind other chains on returning to a decent breakfast. Fortunately we had leftovers from dinner to supplement what little was available. But, fortunately there was a good fridge and microwave in the room. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean.

The room was clean, but the bed was hard and had a metal sticking out on the box springs that we hit our legs on. The desk chair was broken so it wasn't useful. I had a room on the first floor and the sliding window did not have a lock on it, just a piece of wood to keep it from being opened. Not secure enough for me. It was a 3-day weekend and the hotel was full and had no extra blankets, Hotel breakfasts are never great, but this one had few choices and what was available was not tasty. The coffee left a lot to be desired.

Checked into this dump, should have known by the 2 cars in the parking lot it was a bad idea!! Walked into the room, smelled terrible!! Found old moldy food in the refrigerator, smoke detector missing, shampoo, conditioner and lotion all previously used and put back for the next guest to use. Immediately packed back up and went to the front desk to check out and get a refund. Waited for the female front desk employee to finishing smoking her pot and got our refund and continued on. What an absolute dump!!!

The staff are friendly and very helpful! The room was very clean, the continental breakfast well laid out. I was there during a blizzard and they very quickly plowed the parking lot and cleared off the sidewalks and helped me dig out my car. Bathroom fan could use a little greasing or realigning, but I would stay here again.

Our big complaint was that the room smelled. You were hit with a wave of musty odor each time you opened the door. This problem was more than made up for by the front desk lady, Tiffany. She was upbeat and positive each time I spoke with her. She told me how to work the window when we had trouble with it and offered to come to the room and examine it (not required, her explanation was enough). All of my questions were answered quickly and intelligently. When we had an embarrassing spill at breakfast, Tiffany was there quicker than I could react and had it taken care of. I did not report that room smell because capacity was at maximum, but I am sure Tiffany would have been able to resolve this for us as well if we had. Tiffany helped make this stay an enjoyable one for my family and I.

Because of health issues, we require a 1st floor room. Unfortunately on our first night there was a stomper in the room above us that went on for hours. When we asked them to speak to the person, they said they could not but they upgraded us to a suite in a different area. The stomper above this room was worse than the first one! Was it just a coincidence, or are their floors/ceilings that thin? We will not be staying here again. No sleep either night!

The check-in and check-out were superb. Breakfast was limited due to COVID restrictions in Wisconsin. The hot tub was good, and the pool was under repair. We were greeted well, and the front desk clerk provided us with extra amenities such as Kleenex that was missing in the room. His service was excellent.

The room was okay although it was dusty. Food was left in the fridge from a previous guest and a bottle of juice (opened, sitting upright) was under the bed. I tried to give my granddaughter a bath only to discover that the drain stopper didn’t work. The staff was minimally attentive when I checked in and out.

Call the Super 8 directly and ask for the manager. I am sure you can get a better rate --$102 is high. We stayed at the Ashland Super 8 and did not pay that much. The Ashland, Wi Super 8 has been recently renovated. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is more than adequate for anyone.
