We stayed in the Coimbra Hotel for three nights during the 2014 World Cup. I paid an average of USD 289 per night, through the FIFA accommodation service, and what we got was not even close to the price we paid. To start with, the elevator only works to go upstairs, not to go downstairs. The rooms were very basic and the cable TV signal was weak. The air conditioning remote control was not working well and we found ants in the bathroom plus other furniture. The safe box was not working too.
In an occasion staff made a promise that couldn´t be met, we asked to either provide a hair dryer or to lend us a transformer to use our 110v hair dryer in the hotel, since Fortaleza uses 220v. They told us they would provide to us the morning after and they totally forgot.
The only good things were the morning breakfast, a simple but nice and tasty selection, and location, close to Praia de Iracema (beach) and Beira Mar.
To summarize, if they want to charge USD 289 per night, they should provide a service according to the rate. I´d rather find another place next time in Fortaleza.

I stayed in coimbra residence hotel for 6 nights and the experience was reasonable. Though the rooms are rather simple, they are clean. Plus the hotel is well located in the city. Good price-benefit.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days, there was no cleaning in our room, there was no soap in the bathroom, the shower didn't come out of water, and during the night it dripped and made noise, there were no covers, when I went to ask they told me that there weren't any! Terrible hotel, terrible service and by far the worst experience we've had in our lives!

People, I keep asking myself how a hotel in a touristic place doesn't do something to improve it, it has everything to be a great hotel but unfortunately no, we arrived from a trip with children, they didn't lend us a knife to open our suitcase because it had locks, we just had to do one When he cut it open, he said he didn't have a knife, the bed and mattress were old, it was terrible, I couldn't sleep, the bath towels looked like floorcloths, they were so old, the bathroom was stinky and rotten, my daughters were attacked with bronchitis, the hot shower and the air were great, the TV was great, minibar doesn't close and pure ice, swimming pool I didn't even go in horrible, staff service great breakfast good... our luck as we only came to sleep due to the tours was what saved us... I don't recommend it.

The Hotel has a good location, next to the gym, laundry, snack bar and not far from the beach. However, it seems that the hotel is abandoned, the furniture is old, doors that don't close, windows are sticking, there is nothing to eat other than breakfast, the telephone doesn't work, the spring bed is already worn out, it's terrible, I didn't sleep well one day, bathroom is the worst of all, there is no support to place utensils in the shower, water keeps coming out and flooding the bathroom, old and small mirrors, shower dripping and making noise.
