Detailed Reviews
I went for a one week "carer's respite" from June 7th to 14th & never saw a drop of rain. This is a most impressive exceptionally well run hotel. I booked a superior double for single occupation which was comfortable & had all the amenities one would expect. The hotel is separated from the beach only by a road, a walkway& a bicycle lane. The lobby is a marble marvel with live carp (?) swimming in a shallow waterway. The lobby bar is excellent (&reasonably priced - happy hour wednesday half price.) The barman knows his stuff and "builds" a mean Margarita, pina colada ,mojito etc at about £5 a throw.
The reception staff are exemplary with 2 charming young ladies & up to three men. There are two principal restaurants Mucuripe- internation cuisine & an aseatic restaurant. The staff in the restaurants were very good & the Maitre d'Hotel in Mucuripe particularly helpful. The food in both restaurants was high quality. There is also room service, you can eat in the lobby bar or on the rooftop where the swimming pool is a bit small. The breakfast array is mouth watering & you can also order any special you may want. I have only one modest reservation: to do some shopping (go to the mercado central 500+ small shops & with a bit of negotiation over local goods quite a snip) you need a taxi which costs about £5 each way. I loved my stay & would like to thank all the staff who were so kind & helpful.

The hotel is considered one of the best in Fortaleza.
The room is good, spacious, I stayed in the side room sea. The kurto armchair was well scratched, the support table with many stains, the furniture of the room are not old but deserve repairs. Customers are demanding, they like good care.
The bathroom in the room also needs a special care and look, had a bathtub, the shower was in the middle of the ceiling which makes it difficult to open the shower, because it is a 5-star hotel, I found the bathroom enclosed.
I had amenites from the Boticario.
Good acoustics, I didn't hear much noise.
The breakfast is great, with several options, this definitely deserves an excellent review. Helpful and attentive waiters, fast service.
The view from the pool is beautiful.

Look, it was surprising. I would say it was excellent. We are travelers and know Fortaleza well, and this hotel was the only one we hadn't stayed at on the seafront. And today I say that we will certainly only stay there when we go back to the city. At reception you are well attended to, there is a bar and several areas to wait and relax to the sound of a piano. Fish around that makes the environment more familiar. In particular, my son loved it, they even gave him food to feed the fish. In the room I found a difference, a large closet with lights, a bag with sandals and a towel to enjoy the beach or use in the pool. A coffee maker to have a cup of coffee in the room and some options of chocolates, savory snacks and drinks in the minibar. Super soft pillow, really super. Complimentary natural products in the bathroom. It's for those who get a beach view, there will be a unique balcony. And I confess that I put the single mattress on the balcony to enjoy with my husband, to the sound of the waves and moonlight, for those coming with children, this is the best option to enjoy off-site as a couple hahaha. Finally, breakfast is very varied and delicious. It's worth every penny, the view from the rooftop is surreal, you won't regret it and it will yield lots of memorable photos and stories. I keep wanting to go back and we will! :)

Quite bad experience at this Hotel where I stayed for 2 nigths. It is supposed to be (and you pay for) a 5 stars hotel. BUT:
1) The cleaning in the room is quite poor. Clear traces of previous guests as I've entered in the room for the first time (even in the bathroom....which is disappointing!)
2) No complimentary bottle of watwer. This is even the cheaptes hotels offers but not here. You find a bottle of water on the desk but is is clearly marked that is only to be used for coffee machine!!!
3) As a matter of fact you find a cofee machine in the room. But it is indicated that each cup of coffe/tea is to be paid!! Actually, never seen this greedy approach even in the cheapest hotel!
4) the sink in the bathroom (and the shower) are equipped with two separate taps for hot and cold water! Something has disappeared from each bathroom about 40 years ago as very unpractical.
5) the bathroom does not have a shower but a small bathtube, which is really uncomfortable when entering and going out after the shower. The shower is exactly in the middle of the bathtube: this fact, mixed with the 2 taps for cold/hot water, makes it very difficult to get the right temperature without burning or freezing!! Moreover the draining of the bathtube is very poor so at the end of the shower the water level is over your ankles.
6) In such a hotel I would expect the slippers to be provided. But not here!!! So as guest of such a luxury hotel you are supposed to walk around the room and the bathroom on bare feets!!
7) The breakfast is rather poor for such a "luxury" hotel. poor choice of sweet and of salty, the cofee is quite bad.
8) one of the three elevetors was not working, so most of the time you spend several minutes waiting for going up or down, as the number of rooms is high and there are additional events in the hotel.
9) the elevators work without the use of the room keycard, so basically anyone can enter the hotel and reach the different levels. This is really not nice in terms of overall security.
Actually, the only nice thing was the gym!!!
here I did'nt feel like a welcomed guest but rather a walking wallet to be emptied!!

They get 5 stars because this is the best hotel in Fortaleza—if they were in a developed country, or a resort city, it would not be a 5 star experience…with that caveat in mind, the rooms were clean and 3/4 nights the AC worked well. Everyone who works here was incredibly nice, and desired to make this the best possible experience and to a remarkable degree they all succeeded. The spa is clean and professional. The food in both restaurants is sub-par though the service and ambience were fine. Internet was fast and reliable. The windows open to allow in fresh air which i love. If you ask for additional towels they will bring them to you promptly. The fresh papaya was perfectly ripe every morning. The breakfast buffet was the best meal they served—simple eggs were particularly fresh. Bread suffers probably from poor flower…the usual issues with running a hotel in the developing world—particularly when the hotel is not large enough to justify the costs of bringing in top ingredients.

My stay was in Nov-2019, before the pandemic. This seafront hotel is probably the best accommodation in Fortaleza if you are not looking for a resort. Keep in mind that the best beaches are not in town, but a few miles East or West. Good accommodation, well located in a safe area and plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs within walking distance. Staff do the job.

Fantastic hotel due to excellent services (a rarity in the northeast), staff always available and attentive. Small details like the perfumes and sticks on the upper door frames of the elevators, at dusk someone opens the bed and places a piece of fruit with cutlery, or some sweets, or some cookies on the room table, in addition to a daily bottle of complimentary water. In addition to 2 when entering the accommodation. Complimentary coffee machine and capsules in the room. That delicate chocolate is also left under the pillow with a good night and a breakfast menu, optionally served in the room. At check-in, a complimentary welcome drink, be it a beer, a glass of sparkling wine, a caipirinha or just a soft drink. Very kind. Fantastic breakfast like I've never seen even in large international 5-star chain hotels. I noticed a commendable inclusive policy with well-trained, friendly and attentive employees (down syndrome).
They knew how to enchant the customer (me).
I loved the hotel. I want to go back as often as possible.

The Gran Marquise is without a doubt the best option in Fortaleza. The breakfast is super complete, apart from the freshly prepared foods such as tapioca, omelettes, etc., all delicious. I stayed in a room with a sea view and what a view! Mucuripe beach is very beautiful and you can also enjoy and visit the new Mucuripe market, which is nearby and you can walk to. The hotel's gym is also a great advantage for those who don't want to stop practicing physical activity, the equipment is all new and the environment is super clean and pleasant. One thing that everyone should enjoy is the L'occitane Gran Marquise spa, you really disconnect from the world with the massage packages, I had the relaxing one and even slept. Also take advantage of the lobby bar and order a cappuccino!

It has a very beautiful and pleasant environment. The service really caught my attention, from reception to dinner, all the staff are very attentive. When it comes to house dishes, they all have an appropriate price for the quality they offer. They are well served and very tasty. It's very worth it. I'll be back more often.

Far away from being a 5 star hotel, as they advertise it.
The cleaning is not great. In most of the days, we couldn’t even determine whether the housekeepers have been there or not, there was even a bottle stopper in the floor of our apartment when we first arrived.
Apartments have poor decoration and poor attention to details.
They offer the unhealthiest breakfast I have seen in a while, there was zero greens and vegetables, and the coffee from the machine is of bad quality.
Location is okay.
