We made a reservation for 2 nights in Fortaleza during which we also celebrated an anniversary moment. The staff was very attentative and ensured that there were various presents in the room with balloons.

The rooms may need a renovation, I know it's kind of old but it would work, for example some electrical installations to turn the lights on once you get into the room.
Usb connections are located very low next to the bed, bathroom requires an upgrade and I know some appreciate mini bars and so on but with just a set of big bottles of water would be enough.
Menu for breakfast should offer more interesting options, and for dinner there is a need to have a better options in menu.
More places to work and take conference calls could be a great deal because Wi-Fi speed is good.

I am of black ethnic origin and stayed in this hotel with white European friends who had a hotel room next to mine. We all have local friends but when it came to me inviting a local friend to visit me in my room for drinks before we went out, the hotel security prevented me from doing so unless I paid an additional amount equivalent to half a nights stay. My white European friends were not stopped by security and forced to do the same and were able to have visitors in their room on a number of occasions throughout their stay. My complaint to the Hotel Manager and to IHG with regards to this racially discriminating experience has been totally ignored. Do not expect to treated fairly if you stay at this hotel and are of the BME community!!!

However, the experience was not the best... far below the expectations generated and the daily rate.
Although the staff are polite, there is very little flexibility regarding guest requests, e.g.
- 1) I asked to change the channel on one of the TVs in the restaurant that served the coffee
"It can't be done... it's already programmed for this channel... if it changes, we'll have to change it at the center..." Something like that. For the love of God, people... it's not possible! In one case it was bandsports and in the other sport TV... it's not possible that there isn't a control or a "quick" and less traumatic way to change a damn channel.
- 2) loan towels. Regardless of whether you use it on the hotel premises or to go out with them: it’s one per guest! There's no conversation. Even writing it down... signing it... and everything.
- 3) cutlery in the room. Our mother! A fight. You can only use cutlery if requested by the hotel restaurant... otherwise it will be a "courtesy". Joke! It was a struggle for my wife to get a cup. She didn't want to use the Styrofoam cup they provide.
Now, what really bothered me was the lack of options for breakfast. For the price, they should offer more varieties, especially proteins.
I informed you that I am celiac, which means I cannot eat gluten. However, there was the same "massarocado" cake every day. I was quite bothered by this. It was just on cheese or tapioca bread. With so many options that exist today (and all the appeal from nutritionists), quality and variety could be improved.
Also, the card that opened my room door kept having problems. Then, I had to wait for the slow (and always problematic) elevator on the twentieth floor to ask reception for a change.

For a well-known hotel chain, I was very disappointed. We were a group of about 40 people and the check-in process took a lifetime. The room is basic but the thing that bothered me the most was that at checkout they made me pay for the bottles of water that I took from the fridge, which has never happened in 36 years of traveling around the world, even in places where the water is scarce.

Great experience in this Holiday Inn hotel that is conveniently located at the Beira Mar in Fortaleza. Over the course of 3 weeks I had several stays in this hotel which varied from good to great.
What makes this hotel nice is the team at the Holiday Inn. From the front area staff to the restaurant; from the reception to room service everyone puts his effort in to give a great feeling to the customers.
Rooms are spacious. All amenities are present. Overall the hotel deserves a room make over and hopefully this will be planned in the future. All together the rooms are good; beds are comfortable and the AC is great. WIFI inroom is of good quality.
The hotel has a small pool and recreation area for kids. Small but nice.
Breakfast is served buffet style. Great quality with a lot of options. Great staff and compliments to everyone for the friendliness!

I didn't receive the reservation made by BCD, but I noticed that check-in was at 3pm, regardless of that, at 3pm according to the receptionists, there were no rooms available. Checkout takes place at 12pm, check-in at 3pm and even then, there are no rooms available. I do not recommend.

Overall: True professionals at heart. Location location location! Hotel is situated right on the Iracema beach. Property is not far from great restaurants, nightlife, beach and paths to walk, run and also exercise.
Staff: All staff were always attentive and in problem solving or stay enhancing mode. Pleasant interactions always.
Room service: Room service was excellent. Margarita was always pleasant and consistent. Always checking to see if anything was missing. I truly appreciated the attention to detail of the room.
Breakfast: Restaurant in premise was excellent. Breakfast was great and restaurant team were pleasant and ALWAYs helpful. Property also has two restaurants, one Italian and one French. Both locations were frequented by tourists and locals.
This property really works hard in ensuring a great stay. The team truly added value to my stay.
