We decided to spend one night at “The Martha,” where my wife had stayed and played concerts a decade ago. We took our time driving, fall colors what they be, from Black Mountain NC to Abingdon along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We arrived in time for a good meal and an extremely funny and well done show at the Barter...

The Martha has it all -- fabulous staff, incredible food, amazing pool area and yummy beds. Came with my husband for one night -- we did the Barter package which included dinner, tickets to the Barter Theatre, and room -- and stayed on for two more nights bbecause it was so great. Highlights: strolling across the street to a first-class...

To get the feel of Abingdon you need to stay at the Martha at least once. The staff is fantastic. I have stayed here a number of times over the years and I feel that they do a good job updating the rooms from time to time. Always a treat to stay here and then walk across the street to...

This is a beautiful and historic place everything was lovely Bettie did an excellent job with the room and she was very helpful with telling us about the area and the hotel..we loved her .it was a bit overpriced, you had to call or go to front desk for ice which was aggravating, there was only one resterant in there only open...

We reserved a deluxe king room. When we checked in, we were told it was on fourth floor, and the elevator only went up 3 floors therefore we had to walk up a flight of stairs. Good thing my husband and I are able bodied people, because the hotel was full. We had booked bikes and shuttle for riding on...

We stayed only one night at The Martha. It was a wonderful experience. Lovely charm of an old hotel, but as up-to-date as any new hotel (e.g., the shower with two heads). Our room was basic and quite comfortable. My only caution is that if you have mobility issues, make that clear when you reserve, as we had a full...

Staying in the Martha is a truly elegant experience! I received first class service the entire visit. I experienced the best hot stone message from the Aveda spa, ever. The haunted suite, room 423 was lovely. The ghost was very kind to not pay me a visit. This is by far one of the most beautiful inns in the country.

I can't say enough good things about The Martha! This was our second stay and we will definitely be back. The rooms are excellently appointed and all the details, from the staff, to the amenities, to the historical preservation of the buildings are too notch. If you can stay on a Sunday night, take advantage of the dinner deal and...

The Sunday night special is the best deal we've ever gotten at any resort, inn or hotel. It was fabulous! A beautiful room, indoor pool, luxurious hot tub, gorgeous grounds and gardens--and gracious personnel, too. Dinner was included and it was scrumptious! We had a 3-course meal that was superb, served by a charming waiter. Excellent in every respect. The...
