After staying here 1 week, I made a reservation for the next week. The location is close to the Capitol, even though the property is only average. I called & said I'd be a late arrival, was PROMISED my room. 1 hr later, they're sending me in a cab, 20 miles away, at 12:30 am. It was despicable and I...

Average Hotel and over priced. The furniture didn't really fit in the room. The desk chair and bed are too close together. The front desk clerk appeared to be "put out" when I requested a receipt via phone. The bellmen are helpful and the location is good.

I really enjoyed the majority of my stay at the Intercontinental in Austin this week. When I checked in, the young man at the front desk was very accommodating in trying to provide me with a quiet room. I ended up staying in room 702. The room was cozy and clean, and, at the onset at least, seemed like it...

The hotel manager did not contact me even thou he said he would. My room did not have a king sized bed as I was told by the Houston concierge who helped me make my reservation. The bed was a full sized bed and very hard. The bath room did not have a properly working exhaust system. And I awoke...

This is a much more expensive hotel than we normally stay in. With that came an expectation that they'd be worth the extra cost. On the plus side--the bed was extremely comfortable and the ice water and coffee in the lobby were great! Wish they had tea there as well. Here come the negatives. There was extremely noisy construction going...

Thank you for sharing your experience of our historic hotel. We apologize for the issues you experienced regarding the construction across the street, alarm clock not being turned off, not enough toilet paper in the room, being disturbed by housekeeping on your day of departure, and sink not holding water. This is certainly not up to our normal standards. We...

Everything was GREAT. I really enjoyed my stay. From the time that I arrived until the day that I had to leave, I was treated very well. The gentleman that helped store my luggage until my room were ready was very polite and always had a smile on his face. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here once for business purposes. While the hotel location was great with many restaurants around, their king room was very small. I definitely didn't expect that in Texas. It's a decent hotel in that price range, but I don't think I would stay here next time. However, I think their bar is a great place to hang out.

This was our first time stay at the Intercontinental in Austin. Excellent location in downtown walk away distance from main attractions, fine dinning and entertainment. Room was OK, with nice details, although I found it a bit on the small side in comparison to other hotels we have stayed of similar category, same deal with the indoor pool.

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff members in a good location. My room was not large but was well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was on the larger side with a separate makeup desk, mirror and chair.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Keeping it weird in style ever since we opened in 1924, thanks to the people of Austin who funded our construction! When we opened we were the tallest building in Austin at 10 stories tall. We have gotten a little taller, 15 stories currently, but the city has grown up around us over the years making us a hidden gem in the heart of downtown. We are located 1 block from 6th street, 3 blocks from the Capitol and walking distance to all the activities that make Austin the amazing city that it is. If you are looking for the true experience of Texas and Austin book a room with us. ... more   less
