I've stayed in hundreds of hotels. I finally have found the worst one. $160 per night for dirty hotel, dirty room, no daily room service, rude staff, filthy carpet, holes in the curtails, right next to loud highway.
Hotel was nice and personal was great!! But the room was not good at all!! It looked as though it had not been vacuum in a good while. The hallway also was dirty, the elevator was dirty. Please check your room to make sure it is vacuum when you check in.
Stayed at a number of Holiday Inn Express and this one was not as nice as others we have visited. Others offer hot breakfast during CoVid, but this one handed prepackaged to go breakfast. Be sure to check microwave on entry to room! We wipe down everything entering room, but never opened microwave. You can imagine the shock the next morning when went to heat up prepackaged food, there was leftover from local fast food restaurant. Also notice that only one person seems to be working desk and handing out breakfast bags.
No one will ever confuse a Holiday Inn Express with the Ritz-Carlton. When staying here I expect: Courteous service: I received this in my very limited interactions with staff. No complaints. A decent room: To me that means clean, of a respectable size and hopefully no weird smells. The room is actually very nicely sized with a little "living room" area next to a king bed. Closet space was good and there was a bigger than usual fridge and a big TV and the usual tiny keurig machine. There WAS a little smell in the room, like air freshener was used to cover up someone having smoked there before. We got used to it, but it was the first thing that greeted us upon opening our door. That's the main reason I can't go ahead and give 5-stars. Supposed to be a non-smoking room...well, it was when we stayed there, but not when someone else did before us! A decent bathroom: this was fine. Nothing spectacular, but enough towels and a big enough counter space. A decent breakfast: I enjoyed the pancake making machine! A step up from the usual waffle machine. I would say the included buffet was a tiny bit better than usual (say, compared to a Hampton Inn or La Quinta). As far as location, it's right in the heart of Alvarado. We were in town to visit the giant RV dealership there. That place is literally less than two minutes up the road. Just as expected. It took us 50 minutes to get there from Love Field, so it's clearly not in the heart of Dallas. It's a bit south of Ft. Worth, so I'm not sure it's handy for Ft. Worth either. You would have to have a pretty specific reason to stay here. But if it's just one your way from Point A to Point B and you need a place to rest for the night...I'd say you could do far worse than this Holiday Inn Express. (It's right next to a highway, so for some, it might seem noisy. I had no issues, and our view was literally of the highway just a hundred yards away.)…
I was coming up from Austin late in the evening and opted to stay here rather than drive to Ft Worth (went there for the Monet exhibit). Mainly reason I booked this property is for the airmiles I got on Rocketmiles (so I did book thru a 3rd party site; $76 before taxes/fees). Excellent room. Plenty of hot water, good wifi and a ton of cable channels (DirecTV; maybe 200 channels!). Loved the bathroom products. Only compliants: no USB plugs and the outlets on the lamps are loose so use the wall socket to change electronic and no 'just eggs' at breakfast but Waffle House is near by.
