I have stayed at the Alamo Inn several times over the years. Keith does a great job of providing a home-sweet-home while away from home. The location of the Alamo Inn is in the central part of the Valley, located just minutes away from many top-tier birding hotspots. I recommend the Alamo Inn for anyone looking for a clean and...

The Alamo Inn B&B is charming, welcoming, and well-priced. It's also situated at an ideal location in The Valley, especially for birders and butterfly fans. The fully-equipped accommodations were ideal for us. I would recommend it to anyone.

Keith the manager was very friendly and knowledgeable and ran a clean hotel. Rooms were very affordable but felt breakfast should be included in the rate. Rooms are spacious and had a kitchenette with all amenities. Lesser Nighthawks nest on the roof and it's a good place for birders to stay who need local info help and they also offer...

This inn does not do social hours, afternoon wine or morning breakfasts - it is uniquely tailored to birders' very early and/or very late schedules. They have an honesty system built around taking whatever you want from a fully stocked food pantry - snacks for all hours, full fridge, cereals, etc., as well as items from the bird watching store....

We were happy to find the excellent and encouraging hospitality of proprietor Keith. This is the place for birders. Just the right accommodations for a fun-packed week of birding. In addition, Keith has all the right gear, reference material and resources to meet most any need we could think of. Enjoy!

Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. A do it yourself B&B. Breakfast is on your own and optional. The room was dated. Bedding and towels were functional, but well used. The location was very quiet and located across from a Mexican restaurant. Definitely not luxurious.

Central location between the 3-4 main birding destinations of the Lower Rio Grande Valley; charming historic building (I recommend a room in that bldg if possible). Self service pantry and kitchen means birders can pack a good lunch, grab breakfast at any hour they want, etc. Huge supply of birding resources - field guides, etc. Very convenient and efficient for...

We thoroughly enjoyed the Alamo Inn B&B experience. Reasonable prices; easy to make arrangements with Keith Hackland in a friendly, thorough, personalized, low key style; beautiful, cozy, clean, quiet, lodging with all the comforts of home and all the conveniences you need, taking into account early risers getting up and out with food available if you didn’t have time to...

I enjoyed my stay. The garden suite was perfect for our needs. It provided plenty of room to move around and I liked the bird focus of the decor. I could not find the pots and pans but did not ask; so my fault. I found them on the day we were leaving. I liked that no one bothered us....
