It is a great place with good atmosphere. Keith and Mary Beth are skillfull birders and it was great meeting you folks, and thank you for showing me around. End of June is probably not the best time of the year for birding, but I almost saw everything I could hope for. So I can highly recommend this place for...

The Alamo Inn B&B is very well-located for birding in the Valley and has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The pricing is quite reasonable. If you want a luxurious spa feel, find yourself another place, but this B&B was perfect for us.

Alamo Inn is a great place for birders, photographers and other nature lovers to stay. The B&B is centrally located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) and if you stay there, you're likely to meet other like-minded folks who are friendly and happy to talk about where they went, what they have seen and where they plan to go. I...

We stayed here for two nights. Keith, the owner, the kitchen staff and the housekeepers are very welcoming and helpful. The themed rooms are comfortable and well stocked. It was like staying in a home rather than a hotel. We stayed in the South African room which was a block away from the gear store and breakfast room. The honour...

Another couple and we stayed in the Hummingbird Suite and found it very comfortable for four people. The kitchen was adequately equipped for breakfasts and lunch-making. We didn't cook dinner, but my sense was that cooking equipment for larger meals was a little sparse. Because we made our own breakfasts we missed out on conversation with other birders in the...

A perfect place, especially those getting up super early (birders). Everyone was very friendly and very accommodating. I will, however say that it does need some of updating and cleaning. We stayed in a lower garden suite which was like our own apartment. I think if they could update/renovate and give it a good cleaning it would be an even...

This was our first visit and we stayed here 3 nights in two different apartment style rooms. The first room on the upper level in the Garden Apts. had a king bed and we slept quite well, but the last night on the lower level was not as good. The lower level room was smaller and more crowded and only...

We were made to feel like family. The atmosphere was informal and birder friendly. The prices were reasonable and the decor evoked memories of my long-vanished youth! ;-) We definitely know where to stay on our next trip to the Rio Grande Valley.

We like the Alamo Inn in general very much but had some dissatisfactions with our particular room (the South Padre Island Suite Studio). This room was overcrowded with unneccesary and mostly impractical items, leaving little room for a guest's personal things. For the size of the room, there were too many chairs, other furniture, and decorative "stuff." The small kitchen...

We stayed for four nights. The Alamo Inn is a perfect base for birding in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The rooms are with cooking facilities and a fridge. Self service breakfast is available at any time. Parking is easy, there is a restaurant opposite and a good supermarket nearby. There is a good supply of gear and pertinent literature...
