My wife and I decided to try something new on latest trip to Ashland. After checking out Tripadvisor.com, we decided nothing less than No. 1 would do, so we booked our stay at the Chanticleer. We found out why it was No. 1 The B&B is a 10-minute walk from the theaters, and although up-hill, all the guests walked instead...

Shakespeare and The Chanticleer. They go together well for us. We stayed with two other couples this year for a week of restful bliss in the rooms, great (and NOT OVERDONE) breakfasts served by polite and sweet staff, relaxing mornings in the garden, and conversations with interesting guests who have also discovered this wonderful place. The location is ideal, from...

The Inn was very easy to find, on a quiet street. Only a few minutes walk from the theaters. We left the car in the parking spot and walked everywhere for the 2 days we were there. The room was small but well appointed with a very comfortable bed. It opened up to the garden with chairs and table for...

Gorgeous and comfy and clean rooms, charming hammock (weather permitting) in beautiful garden, superb brunch-be sure to purchase Ellen's cookbook! Though this is one of the oldest B&B's in Ashland, it is kept up to date and current. The rooms may be small but are cozy, clean, warm and inviting. Ours even had its own private entrance. The breakfasts were delicious and original, many coming from the hostess' personal published cookbook. The staff was courteous and always available. The B&B...

The Chanticleer is beautiful, immaculate, and charming. Ellen, the owner and innkeeper, is warm and professional, makes delicious and healthy breakfasts, and seems to have a stable of loyal and interesting repeat guests. The inn is on a quiet street in town within very easy walking distance of all of Ashland's attractions, including of course the theaters, which can be...

The rooms, the cleanliness, the ambiance, the food, the location, the innkeeper--these all contribute to making Chanticleer the absolute best place to stay in Ashland. Ellen Campbell is devoted --unobtrusively--to making sure that her guests have everything they need, want, and ought to seek out. She even found us a fantastic B & B at our next location at a...

Neither of us can remember how many years we've been coming to Chanticleer Inn and enjoying Ellen's wonderful breakfasts, cozy rooms and especially her genuine hospitality - and the fact that we've been returning for so many years perhaps says it all!

This was my second stay at Chanticleer and it will not be the last. Pros include clean, well--appointed rooms, comfy beds, lovely extesive gardens, proximity to Ashland's small downtown, phenomenal breakfasts and an Innkeeper that is devoted to providing great service without being cloying. In general the other guests were all much more interesting - and much less creepy -...
