Having booked this holiday last year (Before COVID 19 emerged) it was only 2 weeks prior to departure that we knew we were actually flying to Turkey. We were extremely nervous but all thoughts or corona were put to rest at this very friendly hotel.
When we arrived there were only a few other guests in residence and we practically had the pool to ourselves.
There were nursing staff when we arrived to take our temperature and these returned each time new residents arrived making sure we all kept safe. Staff in reception were very friendly and helpful. Serpin epecially gave us ideas of how to get to places and how much to spend on all the fake designer my girls were After. 😂
We had bed and breakfast booked and everyday Buket and Fatih took our individual orders with a smile or a joke.
Romeo and the other bar staff served us drinks in the evening and happy hour went down rather well. 🍹 🍺.
The owner was also very nice and gave us a studio room to use on our last day as we had an evening departure.
Would totally recommend this hotel for families. Our daughters and us had two apartments but the studios were spacious and had everything you’d need including a kitchen area with fridge. The bathrooms had huge walk in showers and were equipped with the usual shampoos and soaps etc. Rooms were cleaned every day . Towels changed daily and bedding every 3 days.
A little gem on the edge of Gümbet that I would thoroughly recommend.
Keep up the good work guys and I hope things pick up for you soon when more tourists return.
Thank you for helping create great family Memories for us.
Xx
The last few nights we had some noisy neighbours above us. Next time I'd request a second/third floor apartment.
The food is lovely and freshly made, staff are very attentive they were really good with my daughter, playing pool with her and chatting to her at thr bar/around the pool.
The pool is quite deep 1.6 m for my daughter (however, my fault for not researching this prior) plenty of sun beds and a really nice atmosphere around the pool. The hotel has access to the beach, literally over the road.
There are some nice estaurants along the beach (Windy Bay and Mistral) are a 5 minute walk away, we found Gumbet Cafe along the beach really good value for a snack (toastie, chips, sandwich etc) and drink during the day. Approx £6 for 2 toasties, chips, 2 soft drinks and a beer.
Bar street, the shops and restaurants are very close by about 10 minutes from the hotel. We visited Columbia cafe, 3 nights as the food was abit repetitive in the hotel. Really good value and lovely staff.
I last visited Gumbet 10 years ago, and whilst it has changed a lot I did enjoy my holiday. I would return and use the hotel as a base. Bodrum on the bus is 10 minutes (bus stops right outside the hotel) and has a bit more of a hustle and bustle than Gumbet.
Hotel maids could pay abit more attention to detail but that is the only negative I could really say. And I'd request a higher floor room. For the price, you won't find a friendlier hotel.
The beach is literally across the road but we never went to it as it’s a little stony and I’m more of a pool person.
Heading into town is very easy stroll on the beach footpath where you will hit a cafe, kebab hut and ice cream stall before reaching restaurants. Most restaurants sell the same kind of thing, some restaurants will pick you up and drop you off which we found towards the end of the holiday which was disappointing as our best meal was two days before we left at the Shanghai restaurant located at the top of town on Bar Street where you will find the busier bars, restaurants and nightclubs. There are so many places to eat and drink with everyone being extremely friendly. Be prepared to be hassled constantly to go into bars and shops, it didn’t bother me too much as it’s expected they are trying to make a living. A lot of the bar staff provide entertainment by showing off their dance skills which is good to watch with some people joining in.
The good thing for me is that the Tropicana is just outside of the hustle and bustle so it’s so relaxing to come back on an evening and drink at the pool bar. Which on certain evenings has its own entertainment.
All in all myself my mum and my two nieces have had a fantastic holiday staying here and will definitely be returning. There is not one negative thing I could say about this place.
We had a 1 bedroom apartment which consisted of a separate kitchen and living room. Apartments are large and plenty of space for us as a family of 3. Housekeeping is very friendly and will empty bins and replace towels daily.
ALL staff are extremely friendly, work tirelessly daily, and can't do enough for you. The pool area is lovely and very calm and relaxing. The food is beautiful, and the staff are happy to accommodate any requests.
Air con is charged at £15 per week, and the safe is located in reception by the managers office and also comes with a charge. This, for us, was strange as generally a safe is within your room, but we found this not to be an issue.
We met families that had been going to this hotel for 15 plus years, and it is clear to see why. This is our first time at apartments and was definitely the right choice will definitely return.
Gumbet Town is a 10-minute walk with lots of bars, restaurants, and shops this is where you are asked to buy or look around if you politely say" No Thank you or maybe later they will be polite back. Bodrum town is accessible via a Dolmus outside apartments or a taxi for roughly £3 from a rank, which are situated opposite apartments. There is a small shop in apartments selling anything from milk, water, bread, tea, coffee, etc.
If you want a clean, friendly, no fuss holiday, I would recommend
Thank you, Tropicana and all of your staff, for a wonderful holiday. We will be back.
Great location too, a short walk into Gumbet itself and very close to Bodrum. We were B&B and breakfast was ordered from a menu and served to the table, not buffet which was a huge bonus. All the food we tried was excellent. The pool was a great size and temperature and the complex itself boarders the sister hotel, the Siesta and we used their two pools too. Lots of subbed reserving and people disappearing for hours and at times it was tricky to get loungers. The staff were always happy to get extra out and try find spots in the sun if this happened. The bar serves drinks in glasses which we liked as much more environmentally friendly than other places we’ve stayed. Cocktails approx £7, large beer £3.
The room was very basic and perhaps in need of a good spruce up. Kitchenette had toastie machine, small hob etc but we didn’t need to use it across the stay. We didn’t have a balcony as we had a ground floor room. Occasionally noisy from people arriving back late but to be expected as Gumbet is very lively.
We would go back to the Tropicana in the future when the kids are a little older. The pool is 1.6m at all points but the beach is across the road with water sports and it’s near to the water park.
We’d absolutely recommend Tropicana, it’s a really lovely hotel, thanks for a great holiday!
The rooms are very basic but they were cleaned everyday with clean towels and bed sheets. They had self catering facilities but we didn’t use these as we ate out every night so cannot comment on this.
The food at the hotel was lovely and also great drinks. I don’t drink cocktails but when I did have the odd one or two they were beautiful.
The pool area was lovely, the pool is the same depth all the way through, I’m 5ft2 and can’t touch the floor so be aware of this if going with kids.
The staff were outstanding. Always so so friendly, accommodating and remember your orders etc. they are always up for a laugh. Any comments on here saying they are rude I just don’t understand as they couldn’t be anymore friendlier.
The location is great, metres away from the beach, beautiful sunsets. We didn’t go to the beach but there was a staff member going back and forth to make sure all your needs were met while outside of the hotel. It’s around a 10 minute walk to the bars and restaurants. The location is in a quieter part but this isn’t a bad thing at all, it’s nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle.
I would definitely come back, if I hadn’t already booked a big holiday for next year I would be coming back here.
First impressions were great, on arrival at reception we purchased the air conditioning which works out at 15 pounds.
A gentleman took our cases to our room and turned on the air conditioning.
Apartments were very spacious and spotless. The view was lovely as we were over looking the pool and bar area.
Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful they will always go the extra mile for you.
The restaurant at the hotel is excellent value for money its as reasonable as going out in the town.
You can also have a tab for your food and drinks where you can pay the following day or at the end of your holiday. The bar staff are wonderful, they will go above and beyond for you.
The pool area is fantastic, plenty of sunbeds and very family friendly.
There are a few stray dogs and cats around the apartments, they are extremely friendly.
The amazing part about these apartments are it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle, fantastic location.
Your around 800m away from Gumbet itself.
The supermarket in the hotel is very reasonably priced and there is also another supermarket just down the road which is also reasonably priced.
If you have a late flight on return ask at reception if you are able to keep your room on, we were lucky enough to have this opportunity and cost us just 15 pounds.
I would 100% return to these apartments, you certainly won't be disappointed.
