we were a group of 3 people so we booked a room for 3 people. The hotel is easy to find and very near to the airport jetty. we stayed there for 2 days, the day we arrived in male and the day we had to leave. The staff greets you with a welcome drink on arrival in hotel. The rooms could had been spacious for the price you play. breakfast was quite good and the staff was helpful. The view from the terrace of hotel is a must watch, one gets to see the whole Male island from the top.

We visited Male on a dive holiday and did not want to spend a fortune on luxury accommodation as we would be mainly just showering and sleeping in the hotel. Lucky Hiya was easy to find and a very short walk from the airport ferry and our daily dive boat which was welcomed for the early morning starts. Breakfasts were simple but tasty and good start to a long day, we were asked how we wanted our eggs cooked, but we were given (tasty) omelettes on most days regardless ! They also did nice snacks/noodles/rice dishes to take to the room if we were too tired to go out for dinner. We stayed in the hotel for a total of 6 nights and noticed that most other guests did tend to use it as a stop over between going/coming from another of the islands. We saw no reason to move as we were on a budget and it suited our needs, but if you are visiting the Maldives for a once in a life time honeymoon then I do suggest you look further. If you want a safe, comfortable, clean room that is easy access to all of Male and close to the port/airport than this is perfect and fairly cheap in comparison which meant we got 6 days to dive in the beautiful Maldives on a budget which is much better than we had hoped on our budget.

1. Location
A 10 min boat ride from the airport which is located in Male.
Although it is close to the jetty, one have to pass through narrow and lonely roads
and this could be scary at nights.
It's close to all the attractions such as the tomb, minaret, sultan's park, national museum, president's residence, mosque, shopping etc.

2. Hotac
A tag of USD120 for a crammed room for 4 adults is certainly not a deal.
It comes with a very simple breakfast with a cordial.
Coffee is chargeable but after a gently request, it came as complimentary.

Staff could be trained to be more friendly and helpful.

3. Observation.
The streets are clean with beautiful flowering trees planted alongside the roads.
Most use motorbikes to commute in this tiny island of 1.77 sq kms.
Friday is a day of prayer and rest being a Muslim state.
Fish is the main catch for the local and a main export.
The tourism industry is here to stay with it's superb islands.

It's considered " A Paradise " in the Indian Ocean.

Recently I spent four nights in Lucky Hiya hotel in Male, capital of Maldives islands.

That hotel I have chosen by internet and imediatelly at arrival at reception desk I have noticed that hotel is terrible even stuff was quite friendly but that is not any advantage because people there generally are very friendly and kind.

During my stay at hotel (4 nights) towels were not changed and room was not cleaned untill I have leaved hotel!!!!!!

I want to emphasise that while I am traveling I never choose some top hotels(5 stars or more) but Lucky Hiya hotel was by the far the worsest hotel I have ever been and I am traveling since I was student and have visited almost all continets (except Australia and Arctic).

As well it is not cheap hotel because overnight without breakfast costs 85 US$ (even comparing to the other hotels in capital Male it is not too expensive), but recently I stayed in one nice hotel in San Francisco, uncomparable to this hotel, and I payed only 80 US$ per night with breakfast.

So when I read the articles on Your site I could not believe what the other people are writting, because by no criteria it could not be the best hotel in Male.

I am really sorry to write in this way because it is not my pleasure but reading the articles on Your site I think that the travelers deserve to know the truth and correct information.

The worst hotel we ever stayed! We have to change the room in the middle of the night because of the noise! It is not that close to the airport (boat + taxi) and it is so expensive (75 euros) for what offers. We don't recommend at all. Don't waste your time with this hotel.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. Since it god bad reviews I was a bit suspicious, but we think it is a good hotel for a few days. It was one of the cheapest we could find.

We used booking.com which says including breakfast, but after booking there is no notification about the breakfast. We didn't saw this until we arrived and asked about the breakfast. Then you have to pay 5 dollar per person for the breakfast! I always make screenshots during booking, so i was not mistaken. Too bad.

The room had a good size, 1 bedroom and one separate room to watch tv. The bathroom was a bit small, but the shower was fine.
Our room on the fifth floor was quit.
We had problems with finding the hotel, but friendly people took us to the right street.

Out-of-date hotel with small rooms smelling cigarette. Furniture mostly old, worn out, dirty.
Linen and towels changed only when asked.
Situated at the end of a small, narrow alley.
Situation good - near the airport ferries.

The hotel is overpriced. We paid for the same rate at the island but all we got is a very standard room. It is not worth it. We paid for a room with extra child. The extra bed didn't have bed linen that i have to ask twice and wait for more than 20 minutes. The wifi connection in the room is worst or none at all. You have to go down the lobby to have access on the internet. The shower has a heater but it will burn your skin. So i just rely on the cold shower. The breakfast is just a 3 half slice of bread, 7 pieces of beans, egg and 1 hot dog. Overall i'm not impressed in this hotel, price too expensive for that standard accommodation.

We stayed here one night when we arrived and came back the last night before our flight.

We checked out 3 other hotels/rooms the same price range but they were not that good like Lucky Hiya Hotel. Do not get me wrong, Lucky Hiya is only good for sleeping there before you continue travellling, it is absolutely no option to stay there for your vacation. Do not stay in Male, if you do not have a lot of money take the ferry to Maafushi or Fulidhoo.

Location: Perfect. You can walk to the ferry to the airport and if you want to travel to Maafushi, Velengeli or Fulidho you can take a cap for 30 MVR (1,5 Euro) to the other ferry. Very cheap supermarkets are there as well.

Room: It was clean and big. We had a seperate living room and sleeping room. There was a TV and a couch. Bathroom was alright. (If possible get room number 801 or 901) The bed was really good.

Restaurant: We were really suprised how good the fishcurry tasted. Also the fried rice/noodles were really yammy. Do nor take any other things like the spaghetti bolognaise, it was not good at all.

Staff: The guys are from Bangladesh and are trying everything to help you and make everything perfect. We tipped them always good. One girl from the reception(the younger one with the quiet voice) is great. She is friendly and very helpful. The older one is not helpful and also not very nice. Sometimes we waited till the young one was back at the reception.

All in all you will not find a better option for 70$ for a double room in Male.
