The Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel garners praise for its diverse amenities and prime location, which makes city exploration and public transport access a breeze for many guests. While the hotel's cleanliness and inviting atmosphere receive commendations, the service quality appears inconsistent, as accolades for attentiveness share space with grievances about slow check-ins.
Although the rooms are generally appreciated for their amenities and tidiness, some guests feel the value proposition is lacking, pointing to high costs and underwhelming experiences.

The Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur is located in the center of Kuala Lumpur. It is a 5-minute drive from the Petronas Towers and not far from the Kuala Lumpur Tower. It is less than a 5-minute walk from the MRT station. Opposite is the Quill City Mall. Although it is not a very big mall, it is very good for life. All necessities are available. Although the room is relatively large in the urban area, it is equipped with a minibar and smart TV, free wireless Internet access, a separate bathtub in the room, a telephone, a safe (can accommodate a laptop) and free bottled water. The room is clean and bright, and the bed is comfortable and easy to sleep in. Although it is in the urban area, the sound insulation is very good, so you will not be disturbed by the noise of cars. The breakfast dishes are diverse and rich, and they all taste good.

Great hotel and good location with amenities nearby
Pluses Check in and check out as a breeze Great sized room and great size bathroom with separate shower and bathtub Comes with a mini walk in wardrobe too Great water pressure Bed was really comfortable. Pillows are slightly flat but easily solved with extra pillows There’s a row of shops right behind the hotel, mostly F&B outlets (with lots of choices) to a massage place
Minuses Only thing to nitpick is that the entire hotel is like a ice cube. From the room to the lobby to the gym. A happy problem during hot days.
Would definitely come back.

Sheraton was such a nice choice to stay in KL! Situated 3 min from monorail station which takes you from KL Central where KLIA Ekspres comes to, it has a very convenient location to get to main city sights. My deluxe room was spacious and cosy, had everything needed: hairdryer, iron and ironing board, safe, fridge, scales, teapot with tea and coffee, bath robe and slippers, vanity set, dental kit, nice shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Breakfasts are amazing! You literally have everything you may want: Chinese, Malaysian , Korean, Japanese cuisine with freshly made sushi, eggs and noodle soup station, cereals, oatmeal, fish, chicken, beef, different rice and noodles, waffles, pancakes, huge choose of desserts and ice cream with different toppings, fresh fruits and juices, you may even order fresh juice of your choice, they even have 3 types of gluten free bread, which for me as a person with celiac disease, was such a pleasant surprise!
I would like to mention separately an outstanding work of senior concierge Anwar Deen, whose helpfulness and hospitality were just amazing! Anwar was so kind to find for me wonderful tours to cosy Malacca and to Kampung Kuantan fireflies park, when I myself failed to find ones for the dates needed and gave me so many precious advice about places to check in KL. Thanks to Anwar I felt myself so much at home and Malaysia opened up to me as such a beautiful and hospitable country!

I recently stayed at this Sheraton location and specifically booked a room that included lounge access as part of my reservation. Unfortunately, upon check-in, the staff informed me that lounge access would not be provided, despite it being clearly outlined in my booking. To make matters worse, during check-out, I was told that “lounge access” simply meant staying on the same floor as the lounge—a completely misleading and unsatisfactory explanation.
To address this issue, I contacted Marriott directly. While their response was polite, all they offered was reassurance that the staff would be “trained.” This resolution felt inadequate given the inconvenience and the significant extra cost of several hundred MYR for a service that was never delivered.
This experience reflects a recurring issue I’ve noticed with Marriott's loyalty program. Unlike other hotel groups, Marriott’s program often requires customers to read the fine print carefully to understand what benefits are included, and those benefits can vary depending on the property and country. In contrast, my experiences with Hilton and IHG (Holiday Inn Group) have been far more transparent and consistent. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels across different groups, and while occasional problems arise, they are generally resolved effectively without vague excuses.
When charging premium prices, especially for lounge access, I expect both clear communication and properly trained staff. Unfortunately, this experience has left me hesitant to stay with Marriott properties again. I would strongly recommend exploring Hilton or IHG instead for a more reliable and customer-friendly experience.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced regarding the lounge access and the lack of clarity during your stay. We understand your frustration, especially after a long journey, and we deeply regret that our service fell short of your expectations. It is our goal to provide consistent and transparent service, and we will share your insights with the relevant teams to ensure improvements are made. Your experience does not reflect the standard of service we strive to offer, and we truly value your feedback as it helps us grow. The last time I stayed at this property was about ten years ago. I felt that it needed a refresh urgently.
Fast forward to Feb 2025, I decided to give this property another shot.
1. Check in was swift and they offered me the option to check in at the lounge on level 38 as I am a Platinum elite member.
2. I was assigned to a corner suite on level 37. I noticed that carpet was changed, new furniture, more power connectors and the overall condition has improved - brighter and welcoming. The bed was surprising comfortable and I missed two breakfast as I simply refused to get out of bed.
3. Lounge has been rejuvenated, and they offer a good rotation of food items. Live station offered Sarawak noodles on the first evening, Popiah, lamb tacos etc on other days. It has a good selection of wine, beer and spirits.
4. Breakfast is crowded but it didn't take long to get a table. Has a section with Korean and Japanese items, and local rendang chicken, nasi lemak and live noodle station. There is also a live chapati station, and good selection of bakes and ice cream in the middle.
5. Met up with the guest relation manager Rathi who assisted us greatly during this trip and made the stay doubly fun and comfortable.
Had the opportunity to get a massage at Mandara Spa and the therapist (Sylvia) was skillful, and meticulous in her approach. They are currently running a promotion where the second massage is at 50% off. A great deal!

First experience in a Sheraton hotel outside Italy, I had high expectations which were maintained. The location is convenient, two metro stops from the Petronas Tower, in front of a small mall where there is a Starbucks in case you don't have breakfast included, which would be a real shame because it is one of the strong points of the hotel, buffet super rich, with corners dedicated to Indian food, Chinese food, with finally a great selection for all continents, with chefs ready to prepare whatever you want to request, truly a remarkable experience. I would say that the room is painted large, with also a closet, a sofa, a table that can be used both as a work station and for planning tourist itineraries, mineral water replenished daily, a thermal carafe, perhaps an espresso machine wouldn't have been bad, and a mini bar. it was empty, lit but, empty. Large bathroom with shower and bathtub, perhaps a little dated with classic taps and not mixers, equipped with all accessories including bathrobes. Really comfortable king size bed, the room was on the 29th floor with a nice view of the city. There is a swimming pool which we did not use, however. Courteous, trained staff, ready to help with any request. Definitely satisfied with this stay

There’s nothing more to this place other than it’s ideal location if Kampong Bahru is a frequent in your itinerary.
There’s indeed a charm to the hotel and retains a sense of nostalgia as someone who grew up visiting properties like Sheraton. But its renovated rooms does nothing to help bring new life to the hotel.
0 stars for the look and feel. Hallways were scary—and that’s a word I don’t use often. Lights were flickering, or had busted bulbs. Service entrance was left open throughout my 3 night stay. And the “renovated” rooms feels more like subtle refurbishment. My sofa was incredibly dirty and disgusting. The toilet had mold along its cracked marble. There was also a beeping sound that made a lot of noise all night, presumably coming from the air vents.
The service was just terrible. I had initially contacted the hotel a few days before to request for some birthday amenities for my friend. Nothing much, just perhaps a card or a cake. But on the day of arrival, I was told that no such request was made—and there was nothing they could do. That’s alright, I moved on. Then I had an incident at the wet areas of the spa where I slipped and fell because the floors were so wet. I bruised my arm and when I gave my feedback to the spa attendants to perhaps dry the floors or put up signs, they told me that I should’ve been more careful. No sense of empathy whatsoever. It’s humiliating.
But on another note, the concierge, front service crew and housekeeping did a good job at making the place feel slightly better.
I’d perhaps give this place a try again in the near future, but I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone unless the management is eager to actually do something about the visibly worn-out state of the place. It was so bad I felt like I had thrown my money away.

Sheraton has never been great, but I have now seen a consistent pattern of poor service, weak management, arrogant staff who have a condescending attitude. 1) check in takes forever, staff will almost always assign you to the worst room possible - especially if you are single, expect to be assigned an awkward corner room - don’t get hopes up, I’ve encountered smells of cleaned up cigarette smoke etc 2) wifi in my recent visit did not work, the staff initially feigned ignorance. It took me at least 6 calls, and a request to speak to the general manager, before which they changed my room - which itself was an inconvenience - and the wifi did not work there either. I asked to speak to general manager who was not available and never contacted me back either. 3) staff attending to phone calls for room service are not trained, are rude (have complained about this on a previous visit as well), get orders wrong, and given they display no flexibility, the hotel may as well replace them with chatbots 4) bonvoy points - check in staff claim to credit points which never get credited. There is always an excuse, which I never seem to encounter at other Marriott properties and certainly not IHG 5) i was woken up at 4am on a previous visit with someone trying ti enter my room. Thankfully my door was locked - apparently this was due to their systems being down and they double assigned the same room
Overall, there are plenty of good hotels in KL that are far more functional and will genuinely value your business - this is not one of them

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the series of disappointing experiences you encountered during your stay. This is certainly not the standard of service we aim to provide, and we deeply regret that we fell short of your expectations. We are particularly concerned about the issues you mentioned: 1. Check-in Experience: It's troubling to hear that your check-in was not smooth and that the room assigned did not meet your expectations. We will address this with our front desk team to ensure that room assignments are handled more thoughtfully, especially for solo travelers. 2. Wi-Fi Issues: We apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the Wi-Fi and the delay in addressing your concern. This is not acceptable, and we will be reviewing our procedures to ensure that technical issues are resolved more efficiently in the future. 3. Room Service: Your comments about the room service staff are concerning. Proper training and courteous service are priorities for us, and it's clear that we need to reinforce these standards with our team. We appreciate your patience and regret the repeated issues you faced. 4. Marriott Bonvoy Points: We understand how important it is for our guests to receive the loyalty points they have earned. We will investigate why your points were not credited as promised and ensure that this is corrected. 5. Security Concerns: The incident of someone attempting to enter your room is extremely alarming. While we are grateful that your door was locked, this situation is unacceptable, and we will be conducting a thorough review of our systems to prevent such occurrences in the future. Your feedback is invaluable as it highlights areas where we need to improve. We truly regret that your experience with us has led to such frustration, and we would like the opportunity to make this right. Please reach out to our team at res.kulsi@sheraton.com if you would consider giving us another chance. We want to ensure that your next stay reflects the high standards that you expect and deserve. About 10 years ago, being outside the downtown area would have been a disadvantage.
Nowadays, you can get anywhere cheaply and easily with Grab, so if you're going to the suburbs, it's actually easier because you don't get caught in traffic.
Considering that, it's much cheaper to stay here than a hotel right in the middle of nowhere.
The size and layout of the bathroom in particular is probably to Japanese tastes.
The restaurant only had breakfast, but there was a wide variety for the price, and the Chinese food was decorated in a Chinese style, creating a fun atmosphere.
You can also receive the benefits of being a Marriott member, so if you're a member, I highly recommend it.

Stayed here with a friend over New Years. The room was lovely and large with a nice view and good in room amenities. However breakfast was a big let down as restaurant far, far too busy and quality of food not great. You shouldn’t need to queue at a 5 star hotel to get into breakfast. Also got served cold eggs and no apology when I explained they were cold and that I could get sick from eating them.
Also on our second day we came back to find that hose keeping had changed our beds but only given us one clean towel and left dirty dishes in the room and not vacuumed it. When we called to ask them to fix this there was no real apology and they didn’t seem to think this was a big deal.
The staff over all did not seem that friendly and I even got hung up on when calling guest services.
I have stayed in many Sheraton properties including a 4 star property earlier this year and they were all far superior when it came to the quality of the food and the service.

Response from Sheraton KL, Guest Services / Front Office at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel
Responded 3 Jan 2023
Dear Elunedm2019 Thank you very much for your feedback thru TripAdvisor which assist us greatly to continuously improve our service delivery towards our valued customers. We regret to learn that our service during breakfast at Essence and your room condition fell below your expectations on this occasion and that we had obviously failed to properly respond to your needs. Your comments are most valuable in helping us to serve you better. Department heads concerned have already been briefed to look into the areas mentioned and to ensure that we have better follow up with guests. However, it is incredible to hear that you were impressed with our spacious room design which we are also proud of, with a separate shower cubicle and bathtub in the bathroom- not all 5-star hotels in the city will have this layout. Moreover, we are happy to share with you that, we have our newly on-board Executive Chef, Ewald who is now trying his level best to improve our food quality. Please accept our apology for the inconveniences caused. You are a valuable guest at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel, and we hope to demonstrate the improvements that will be made by having the opportunity to welcome you back again in the near future. Thank you! Best regards Iskandar Zulkarnain Front Office Manager
