Pros - 1) Convenient location - at city centre, journey time to travel around is quite short 2) Quiet - given that it’s located at city centre, I’m amazed the hotel is quiet, just sometimes can feel slight vibration when monorail passes by 3) Retro aesthetics - the layout design is what attracted me to this hotel 4) Friendly staff - most important aspect of a hotel stay, thumbs up 👍 5) Eco friendly water bottles idea - refillable at elevator area 6) Comfy bed Cons - For the price charged I’m surprised a lot of things aren’t provided. 1) No basic amenities provided FOC except for 2 water bottles - No cups / kettles - No in room slippers - No shower caps/vanity amenities - Toothbrush kit on request at RM2 - if a toothbrush kit is chargeable i doubt all other amenities are FOC - i like the eco friendly idea of amenities on request but it shouldn’t be chargeable even just a small fee because room rates are not low 2) Mini fridge can be passed as cooler because it’s not cold enough - on top the fridge is the clothes hanger area, it’s very dark there’s no light source there at all 3) For a King Den, there’s only a single table and chair in the room, there’s hardly enough space to place my things. Plus there’s just ONE hook in the whole room, it’s quite frustrating 4) Comfy bed but all 4 pillows are way too high/hard. A mix of 2 soft and 2 hard is better to accommodate every different guest 5) Parking area is located next to hotel building - per hour rate charge - RM15 max per day for in house guests - Again, for the price charged, the hotel should at least have lower parking rates (even though it’s already lower than hourly rate, it’s still quite high) or better yet FOC for the room rates guests paid 6) KL city view at Level 2 is horrible - KL tower can be seen it’s quite near but the monorail is just right in front of the window, almost blocking the whole view All in all it’s not a bad experience but I wouldn’t come back to stay.…
What an excellent hotel! We will only stay here in KL in future! Really lovely designed boutique style hotel, so much nicer than staying in a large business type hotel. Here it feels like home where the staff welcome you by name. The rooms and communal areas are very well designed and fun places to hang out. The restaurant and bar area itself was fun and vibrant/busy in the evenings too for dinner. We really enjoyed the breakfast (the most incredible avocado toast- Trust me!!) and the dinner and the lunch that we ate there. Also they have a great bar area and a cocktail mixologist who can really make excellent drinks (shout out to Dominic at the bar- who was excellent!). Actually a huge thankyou to all of the staff who were both super friendly and really helpful. I called up to book rather than through any website and spoke to a delightful and helpful lady called Dee Rose- she was excellent at helping me book. Finally a special mention in particular for Izni on front desk who was so kind to help with lots of recommendations for our trip to Penang as well as the logistics of getting there . She really was a wonderful help to us and really made our holiday easy and special . What a massive asset to the hotel she is! Overall we cannot thank everyone enough for making our first holiday in 2 years so special at the Chow Kit.…
A BIG Thank You for the special kind arrangement to the Management of the Hotel & entire Staff ensured the room is ready with birthday gifts is already inside the #411🙏👏👍👍👍👏🙏 really 5 star service award value for money. The food was always great with many choices to chose from;:; my recommendation go for the Chef Specialty.
Had dinner with two friends on a very quiet Monday night. We got the Family Set (for 3-4 people), which came with two starters, two mains, a veggie, four nasi ulam and two desserts. Not cheap (RM298++), but the food was good and they did their best to give value for the price. Two of us also shared the Happy Hour cocktail deal - three cocktails for RM 90++. We started off with the complimentary amuse bouche of nice, crunchy, not too oily keropok, which came with their housemade sambal dips. Our starters were the cucur udang and satay. The cucur udang was nice and crunchy with solid, proper-sized prawns. It was an unexpectedly generous portion, which we couldn't finish in the end and had to take away. We had asked for a mix of beef and chicken satay, but the chef said the beef was a bit off, so s/he decided to only send out chicken - points for good service. The satay was also generous in size and served with the usual peanut sauce, onions and cucumber. For our mains, we opted for Squid Sambal Petai and Kambing Kuzi. The squid was not too spicy and had excellent texture with that right balance between chewiness and softness. Didn't really notice the petai though. The lamb shank was tender with a nice sauce, accompanied by cashew nuts and raisins. But I felt it was a little on the small side. Our vegetable was a fresh, nice and crunchy Pucuk Paku - also a little on the small side portion-wise. The nasi ulam was fragrant with the ulam well mixed in. One friend said she could just have that with the sambal and be satisfied. Our desserts were the Royal Pudding and Sago Gula Melaka. The pudding didn't quite taste like the description, but was pretty good nonetheless. As for the sago gula melaka, you really need to get the right amount of everything in one bite for the best taste, otherwise it can be a bit bland. For the cocktails, we had the Halia Nectarine, Assamboi Pomelo and Garnet Quencher. All interesting flavours. I'm quite sensitive to the bitterness of alcohol, and I couldn't really taste it in the drinks I had (the Halia Nectarine and the Garnet Quencher), so either the mixing was really good or the alcohol wasn't a lot! Service-wise, it was a bit of a shaky start as after we got our menus, the waitstaff seem to disappear, so it was a while before we could get someone to take our order. The bartender was there, but we didn't think it was his job to take food orders. After that though, service was much better - one staff member was present and friendly without being intrusive throughout. He also kindly offered to split the last cocktail into two portions as he saw me and my friend were sharing the cocktails, but it kind of looked like he gave us practically two whole drinks! The only other minor quibble I have with the service is that all the starters, mains and veggie came out at once. It was quite overwhelming, and a bit crowded on the table. It would have been better if the starters had come out first, then only the mains and veggie. Overall, I would recommend this place for good-tasting upmarket local food and drinks in a nice, classy ambience. It will go in my list of places to take foreign friends for a taste of local food and interesting localised cocktails in a comfortable environment.…
Overall is just so awesome. The room was so unique, clean, comfortable and cozy, the food was so amazing and must try each from the menu, and the staffs was so friendly. And worth the price. Definetly no regret.
Good food, good environment, friendly staff. Highly recommend. Clean washroom, lots of menu for you to pick, in overall its a good experience. Definitely will come back if we have the chance. Good job!
I was in a mood to have authentic Malay cuisine and immediately The Chow Kit came up to my mind! The food was just deliciously flavoursome! We ordered the Satay, Mangga Kerabu Salad, Ikan Asam Pedas and Musang King Custard for desert ; all highly recommended! Edward gave us such an extraordinary service I must say, we truly at home! The cocktails as well are a must have! All in all, I'd rate The Chow Kit above and beyond. ☺️
Organised a buka puasa event in the Library room of The Chow Kit Hotel and must say that everything was well executed, thanks to the very hands-on team. I worked mostly with Ms Izni, who was extremely accommodating since the start of our planning and went through great efforts for my additional ad-hoc requests. Table setting & decor was beautifully done by Mr Bala and great service by our hosts Bob and Umar. The Ramadan platters got rave reviews and would highly recommend TCK as a spot for intimate events.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. Love the little design choices! Food was great too, dining credits were more than enough. There were issues with the aircon so they upgraded us to another more spacious room right away. Awesome service!
Beautifully built . Excellent ambiance . Good services. Nice hotel . Unique theme . Mixture of menu of local and western. Got drive to pay in parking lots at the side of building. Must check out the rooms .
