I read about this place in the Wikitravel article for Nagasaki. It sounded nice. Upon arrival, my reaction changed. The guy had been friendly on our 1 phone call and emails, making my reservation; but when I got there, it felt like I was bothering him by being there. It is not inside of the shrine, as the wiki article... More

Stayed here for one night. It's extremely hard to find the hostel, but as soon as I called them they came to the station and brought me to the place. Wasn't busy at all, I shared the female dormitory with another girl. The owner is very friendly and helpful! You get a discount card which can really save you money.... More

at first I felt it was far for centre of city, but believe me the well connected city tram make it so easy to reach. Far from city? So much charming, so much in love with it. the room is clean and cozy, the place is quiet ... Only thing u will be awaken by birds singing in the morning.... More

Charming atmosphere, charming neighborhood and lovely staff. I stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The small hostel is extremely clean and modern. The beds are comfortable and cosy. The communal room has a vintage European vibe, which fits with Nagasaki's history, and offers free tea and toast for breakfast. The staff were kind and helpful, they let me... More

A quaint little Japanese styled accommodation located in the suburbs of Hotarujaya, Nagasaki, this accommodation is worth every penny. Facilities are spartan but very well maintained. The owners are nice, and will drop in for a quick chat. Place is nice and clean, and is ideal for every season. I lived in the dormitories. Families can opt for a private... More

It was easy to drive to this place thanks to the directions on the website. The stairs up are very special and nice to take as you are on your way to a shrine. It is a bit off the city center but walkable while passing by great sites (Suwa, Ryoma's boots, temples,...). The staff could speak basic English (rules... More

The guesthouse is located some distances from the JR Nagasaki station. I have used Nagasaki's famous Tram to get to the guesthouse faster. (#3 Tram) After getting off the tram station, we walked through the small alley which was next to the graves and shrines. (I suggest you to walk with others at night, little creepy.) Using the map given... More

Kagamiya Hostel is a wonderful place in a quiet neighborhood of Nagasaki. It is quite easy to reach by tram, which also brings you to all the places of interest. There is no fully equipped kitchen, but the common area has everything that you would usually need in Japan. Toast and tea are free for breakfast. All facilities are very... More

One of the nicest guesthouses we have been to. The owners were really helpful, facilities were great and dorms very functional. The location was not that bad either, walking distance from the city (at least without luggage). Highly recommended!

It's a very Japanese experience, starting from the fact that you approach the hostel through a shrine. A very nice couple runs this hostel, and you have the typical tatami/wooden house mix that makes it so unique. Free toast breakfast, fast wifi. A bit long tram ride away.
