We stayed only one night but really enjoyed our visit. The place is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and attentive. We stayed at the tea room which is spacious and beautiful. We would recommend this place if you are in Osaka

The place is absolutely stunning and all the staffs are very friendly and attentive. We asked for two Champagne flutes and those were ready for us without a further request. Very clean and beautiful place, and we will be back to Osaka just to stay here!

A very simple yet elegant appeal with a beautiful garden to wake up in. Spacious rooms and accommodating hosts. The perfect mixture of being in a small hotel and being at home. Beautiful, historic garden, maintained to a beautiful degree. Options for a Japanese breakfast vs continental breakfast were nice options - the Japanese breakfast is a great way for... More

We stayed at Carpe Diem for five nights during our recent trip to Japan. We stayed in the tea room which was a really decent size for us both, we had a great view of the stunning garden. The host Alex and all the staff were just great and we felt like part of the family during our stay. We... More

This is the quintessential Japanese house, with rooms arranged around the garden. I love being able to slide the door to gaze at the view, and they also have some Yayoi Kusama sculptures scattered throughout - she's a good friend of one of the owners, who works in publishing. The breakfast was okay – we had the freedom to do whatever... More

Really loved the place. We had the superior tea room which had a sleeping area, sitting area, shower and toilet. Sleeping on the mats on futons with a great view on the perfect Japanese garden. A real Japan experience! Breakfast in either Western and Japanese style. We loved the Japanese breakfast. The people are very friendly and helpful and take... More

Just stay there if you're in Osaka, its awesome. Great place, traditional Japanese style accomm run by friendly staff, not expensive and only a few people can stay there at a time. Also, its not a hotel... the same boring room you stay in everywhere you go.

Carpe Diem is a bit of a walk from the nearest train station (at least 15 minutes), and not close to the action in Osaka (Dontonbori). In saying that, it was easy enough to find with the directions provided, and nice to be in a quieter residential area. Alex gave us a great recommendation for Udon noodles at a nearby... More

We stayed 3 nights en route from Tokyo to Kyoto. We had a traditional room with futons, it was large & opened onto their wonderful garden. After the hustle of Tokyo we enjoyed the tranquility of Carpe Diem . Our hosts & staff were very helpful & welcoming. Breakfast is pretty basic but adequate & the room facilities are what... More
