Great hotel. Stayed here for 11 nights. De service was good, the people were nice and the price was also good. Very close to the centre of the city, a subway station and a 7/11 just around the corner.

The service was top class. We were going out for dinner and the reception gave us umbrellas to borrow in case of rain, sure enough 10 min later it started. The location is 200 m from the intersection of the 2 subways. So if you want to see things along these line it's easy.

Stayed here for 4 nights and couldn't fault much, maybe size of bath towels. Staff very helpful and did well to make sense at my broken attempt at Japanese. Great location and would stay there again if ever in Kyoto. Everything is within 10 to 20 minutes by train. Facilty is non smoking which is a bonus in Japan.

The hotel is very clean, all bed linens and towels are changed every day. The access from Kyoto Station is either using metro or by taxi (taxi cost is about 1200 JPY). The hotel is very close (walking distance) to International Manga Museum and the short distance (two bus stops) to Nija Castle. The free wired Interned and Wi-Fi is...

Tiny room, typical of Japanese budget hotels. This is just an old hotel since they are still using an actual key for the room (that you have to give to the concierge everytime you go out). Location is relatively convenient but the only thing within walking distance is nijo castle. To go to Gion, Pontocho or major shopping area, you...

It's my first time to stay in this hotel, because I take part in Kyoto marathon 2014 and I booked the room of hotel via the authorities package solution. I arrive the hotel in a snow morning and desk manager and their staff kindly help me very early check-in the hotel. Really thank you so much!

In novemer 2012, I spent one week in this hotel. The location is really good: two minutes walking distance from Karasumaoike subway station, which is where the 2 subway lines in Kyoto meet. The room was small, but very clean. The staff was really friendly, kind and helpful (they even provide the adaptors for sockets free of charge ). The...

If you're looking for quality budget accommodation then this is it! The Kyoto Garden Hotel is ideally located near the Imperial Palace Gardens and other top sightseeing areas. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help. The actual hotel is clean and well looked after although an older style hotel and has wifi available throughout....

We stayed here 2 nights and had a pleasant experience. The whole place has a brown 70's decor going on and the rooms are pretty small, but it is very clean and well kept. Staff is friendly. Located very close to the station and in walking distance from many sights.

Stayed here as part of a work trip so I didn't specifically choose it but I wasn't impressed. The desk staff were pleasant enough but the rooms were nothing special. They were small with no hanging space which is not uncommon in Japan but they did feel very budget. The bathroom especially was outdated and rather like a caravan bathroom....

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
