We only stayed here one night after sightseeing in Kyoto. The hotel itself was busy but surprisingly quiet. The rooms are clean and the staff was friendly. I was able to communicate with the front desk easily which was nice.

This hotel is quite well located but the rooms are nothing exceptional, small. The breakfast is only a "Japanese" one served in the Chinese restaurant next to the lobby and frankly speaking this is not exceptional at all. Otherwise, it is clean and quiet.

The rooms are fairly standard for Japan, so small by US standards. But they are clean, and I was so busy during the day that I slept well. It was very close to train stations and bus stops, and if you are up for it, walking to the main shopping and entertainment district is doable.

Standard Japanese room, nothing special. Small but clean. Sleep quality was good though, less traffic on this street. The staff spoke little English but we could manage. We were happy about the location since the subway, bus stops and train station were pretty close. Do not buy breakfast there, you'll end up in some chinese 'restaurant' with microwave food for...

The hotel is located on a quiet side street and is like a small inn. My room was not big but had a nice balcony. The bathroom was small but that's the Japanese style. The rooms are clean and the staff courteous. They can exchange foreign currency at the front desk. They also have a Japanese breakfast available but you...

Conveniently located close to the metro station and to lively parts of the city that you would want to visit anyway. Reasonably priced (€75 per night for a couple and a five year old child, for three nights), clean and quiet. On the other hand: really small rooms and even smaller bathrooms that somehow manage to have everything you need....

Hotel is nice, room is small but that is to be expected when staying in Japan. Very clean and tidy Location is a little away from the main Kyoto station but only a 2 minute walk to the subway station. so not too much of an issue Close to Golden castle and Imperial palace Free WIFI

We asked for a non-smoking room on the non-smoking floor. They gave us room 405. The moment the room door was opened a crack, an overwhelming smell of cigarettes smoke came rushing out. I went downstairs to ask for a room change. They told me, they can't because they are full. I explained my wife is pregnant and cigarette smoke...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
