Definitely a most charming place to stay that has very traditional set up that is comfortable . The all staff is most polite , charming , helpful ,and serious . This ryokan is definitely not a typical western style hotel but a old fashion Kyoto home with all the comfort needed. I truly recommend it to people who are happy...

I hesitate to add my review as I would like to consider this my secret place. After staying at the Yoshikawa I don't think I will ever be truly happy with another hotel, Inn, B&B, etc. The service was impeccable, the room and bathroom perfect in their simplicity, and the food amazing (both dinner and the Japanese-style breakfast). I had...

I have visited Japan in November and my stay at Yoshikawa Inn has been one of the highlights. It is a jewel, neat, clean and the staff will treat you like family. I liked both the Tempura dinner and the Japanese breakfast. I'd love to go back!

Service was impeccable and food was amazing. We would like to thank Fumiha who served us in the first night. Nothing was too trouble for her and she took extra steps to make us feel welcome all the time. We are planning to come back before this trip ends, that's how much we enjoy our stay and how much we...

Overall, I'd recommend this place to someone looking for a nice, accessible ryokan experience. It's a fairly small inn and we got room 10 which was on the second floor. It was a decent size room overlooking the garden. I think the place was very peaceful and they try to be very friendly and attentive. There aren't many power outlets...

Simply the best experience and money well spent. We had the room on the ground floor with garden view (room #8) and it is HUGE! Our baby boy had the best night sleep ever (he literally fall asleep within a minute after we put him on the futon bed). Food wise, we opted for the Tempura Kaiseki dinner and I...

It felt like home the moment we walked in. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. There was always somebody to see you out and welcome you back. For a young couple who had been taking care of theirselves for a while, it was nice to be taken care of. The garden is absolutely beautiful, I spent so much time...

Unfortunately this inn is more famous as a tempura place and my previous review was placed under the restaurant. So here is the posting again: "We have been coming to Yoshikawa for their famous tempura but never managed to stay. So end of last year, we stayed at the ryokan and totally enjoyed the room and the services. It beats...

Beautiful gardens, Excellent service-staff & who treat you like family, redefining Japanese hospitality. The Food is some of the best in Japan, and the Tempura is surely some of the best anywhere. Its unique, creative and just different than any other Tempura I've had! What is amazing about this hotel is it is not very large, however feels much bigger,...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
