Traveled as a couple. Rooms are super super tiny so that we could not lay our suitcases on the ground. They charge ¥1700 for breakfast (7:30-9:30) - we went to have breakfast at 08:30 and the whole buffet was empty. They were not even refilling!!! I asked them that everything is empty and there is nothing to eat - but...

Beautiful hotel, modern with a touch of tradition. Kyoto is beautiful, nothing less to be expected. Aranvert Hotel is not a 5* high class hotel but its charming customer service definitely do not lose to any of it's higher class competitors. Extremely convenient, just 1 stop away from Kyoto main station and less than 5 mins walk. Nearby convenient stalls...

The Aranvert Hotel is a very good hotel with staff that go out of their way to help you. The guest rooms are attractive and larger than most Japanese hotel rooms. Ours had a great view of Kyoto Tower, which is beautifully illuminated at night. The hotel staff helped us a number of times, such as making a dinner reservation,...

Thank you for your staying and contributed. I'm really flattered to hear that. The room which you stayed is the largest room type of our hotel. This room location is also the best, I think you could enjoy a night view and Kyoto tower illumination. We think we need to help our guest as we can. It's an honor to...

The staff were simply excellent, went above and beyond for us, were flexible and understanding. Rooms were a reasonable size, breakfast was good, handy to convenience stores. Location wasn't as close to the action as we would have liked but the access to the metro did make up for it. Recommended *I lost my cellphone in a taxi and the...

Space for 2 luggages, bathroom is small but bigger compare to others. - have coin washer/dryer - have cute map drawings of places to visit...

Close to the station, clean, good breakfast and enjoyed the hot tab. They also had free electric converters and lots of guide books about Kyoto at the reception. Very helpful staff who printed out timetables for various trains for us when planning the rest of the trip.

This hotel is very conveniently located by the Gojo subway station. As is true with many hotel rooms in Japan, our room was small by Western Standards, but it was otherwise very nice - clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very professional and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel even only on these points. But Aranvert has one extra thing...

Good location opposite seven eleven and near subway station. Little beds pushed out from the wall but quiet and comfy. We had onsen spa here and that was interesting time. This was an ok place to stay in Kyoto that was cheap and pretty clean with a strong shower, reasonable price and friendly staffs.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
