Stayed on executive floor, with excellent view of the city. Property situated on a hill, which you can hike up for good views - just go out the back of the hotel. Good service. Two subway stops from "downtown", though for sightseeing, several temples are within a 15 minute walk.

Thank you for taking your time to write a positive review. We're pleased you enjoyed our view, property and service. The view you can see from Executive floor changes seasonally. In spring, you can see the pretty cherry blossoms. In autumn you can see the beautiful colored leaves. So please come again and see the different views. We will look...

I was guest of The Westin Miyako Kyoto Hotel in October 2010 during my trip to Japan. I booked that hotel for "one extra night" in Kyoto and later I was really sad that I have to leave them... But anyway... Hotel has a shuttle bus service from Kyoto main railway station. It's not that easy to find, but just...

Spacious rooms, very clean. Courteous, helpful, efficient staff. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast buffet. Good indoor pool. Enjoyable live jazz nightly in the lounge. It is not a new hotel, but is very attractive and well-maintained.

After a very pleasant stay at the Westin in Tokyo and reading the positive reviews on TA, I was looking forward to my stay at the Westin in Kyoto (as a Starwood gold member, I try to stay in Westin and Sheratons whenever possible). Sadly this hotel is very disappointing. To quote one of the other reviews - this is...

Oddly despite all the complaints on this site about the hotel shuttle bus, no one actually gave clear directions on how to find the bus stop inside the Kyoto train station. So for future travellers, if you arrive in Kyoto by shinkansen and are looking for the Westin shuttle bus stop: When you come out of the shinkansen platforms, you'll...

We found the Westin Miyako to be an excellent base for a visit to Kyoto. We arrived on my sons birthday. We asked if it was possible to organise a cake for him (at about 8PM). About 15 minutes after checking in, a cake arrived at our room. Similarly, we asked if it was possible for a rollaway bed to...

Overall a beautiful hotel. We had a room with an amazing view of Kyoto and the mountain lines of central Japan. Service was immaculate and the staff were all very friendly. If you're not in a rush to get out, take the buffet for breakfast. A great selection of both Japanese and western food is offered for appx 3000yen. This...

if you're staying in a Starwood hotel in Japan, you're probably missing out on some local culture, but this place is a solid choice nonetheless. the location is good, in eastern Kyoto, a 2-3 minute walk from the (small but occasionally useful) Kyoto Metro; it is also a short taxi ride from major temples/sites such as Kiyomizudera, Ginkakuji, etc. if...

We recently stayed at the Westin in Kyoto. Although it's not in the center of town, it has a free shuttle that connects with Kyoto Station and Gion every 30 minutes, which is very convenient and you can easely walk downtown if you feel like it. Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
