Had a double room special which almost broke our backs (bad mattress). We asked(and paid) for an upgrade to 2 singles and got a great room! Hotel reception is awesome and helpful. Convenient located near subway and breakfast is tasty. I would come here again.

Great position for subway and shopping and food. The staff are wonderful and friendly, you have to hand in the room key every time you leave the room, our room we had was typical japanese standard small, the bathroom is cubicle style, has everything you want. We stayed 4 nights and i was over beeing cramped and having no where...

This hotel is quite comfortable, clean and affordable. It's also well located in the middle of Kyoto with easy access to Nijo Castle, Imperial Palace Park, Gion district, Pontocho Alley and many surrounding temples and shrines. We just walked around every day to visit different places and took also the nearby subway to visit further areas such as Arashiyama with...

Hotel is clean and staff helpful. Rooms small, but that's Japan. Handy for Metro, but probably better to be nearer the river and shops and multiple bus routes. Can't criticise, but good not great. Rooms a bit tired.

Just a couple blocks from the subway, the hotel sits down the street off the main road. Staff is very friendly when you walk in and help assist with what they can. There is a restaurant in the front lobby where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinners. (You will need to walk a little for food if you do...

We stayed for one night and barely even stayed in the hotel. We arrived early and left our luggage bags with the hotel, came back to check in before dinner, only stayed for a night and left early too. We left our bags with the concierge as we had an early start before moving to another hotel. Check In/Check Out...

Really liked this. Good location despite being off the main road. Great breakfast. Our double room was tiny but we'd gotten used to this in Japan by now :-). Our sons had a twin and that was a bit bigger.

Good location. Clean and wide room. Friendly staff. My daughter left her coat in the hotel's room and the hotel staff helped her to send her coat to hotel in Tokyo where we stay. Will stay in this hotel when I come to Kyoto next year

I visited Kyoto for business, and stayed here for 4 nights. The room is very spacious compared to Tokyo, single or double is the same. I stayed on the 9th floor, very quiet and peaceful, the room is very clean. Only 1 English TV channel is CNN. Breakfast cost 1100 Yen, choose either Japanese or buffet. I think the buffet...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
