We stayed here for 4 nights in Kyoto as it was close to the station. Very nice hotel, clean and convenient with male and female hot spas. The hotel rooms are very small but this is typical of Japan. We opted out of breakfast as it was very expensive and there are plenty of breakfast places at the station. A...

It is a nice hotel and they offer good value, but it is not that close for the Kyoto station. The onsen it is good and the breakfast was good, but overall it was not a great experience and not so convenient as I expected.

A "business hotel", well located, friendly staff, a good lobby for waiting, and a good hot bath. Room small, but well thought out, decent bathroom, all very clean, efficient and practical for a short stay.

This hotel is conveniently situated within 10 minutes walk from Kyoto station. It is very convenient to get food and close to various shops. Booked the single room which is really cosy. The room is clean, modern and very quiet. Nice, convenient and well priced hotel in Kyoto.

This hotel allowed for the best sleep I have had in a while - the mattresses and and the pillows were just perfect. So was sound isolation. Very tranquil stay. The property is within 10 minutes easy walk from the main train station, so the location is very convenient on all counts. Breakfast is, while somewhat pricey (JPY 1800/day/head), is...

We stayed here for four nights and loved absolutely every second. The location is a five minute walk from Kyoto Station and the front desk staff is armed with plenty of maps and recommendations, as well as good English. The rooms are immaculate, spacious and well stocked. There is a free public bath/spa on the second floor that we used...

Very nice hotel, staff is a bit rigid, but very efficient. Beds are excellent, and everything in the room is made to help you - phones charges available, excellent Wifi, Air cleaner, LAN cable, Air co working. Bathroom a bit small though. Location is ok.

A quiet location away from the bustle and sounds of the city. Bicycle is highly recommended to get around in Kyoto. The restaurants usually require diners to make prior reservation. Very good local restaurants everywhere. Go in April for good weather.

Was here for 2 nights only. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but we were not in the room most of the time, so the size was ok. Service was helpful when asking for directions. I like having the public bath house in the hotel and the women bath requires a PIN to enter :) The location is not too...

Location was ok, around 15 mins walk from the main subway station. We stayed there for one night. Room was decent sized for Japanese hotel standard. Check in and out was smooth but no late check out when we requested. The most disappointing part was the service. We are a frequent traveller and have stayed at many hotels, from budget...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
