The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is right across from Kyoto station which makes getting about town very easy. The hotel looks clean and modern and the rooms were a decent size. Not as big as western hotels but definitely a good size for Japan hotels. Staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. There is...

Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto is well located being across from the Kyoto train station. It was perfect and a time save for the trips I took out of Kyoto. Also, perfect for using the bus system in Kyoto. The staff was friendly and the room was nice and clean. I would stay there again.

This was a really great hotel if you are on a budget! Right across the Kyoto train station, a perfect location! All buses/trains come back to this place, so you know you can never get lost! I purchased the all day Bus Pass and it was great for hopping on and off. The All Day bus pass (which is a...

The hotel is nice and new looking and the staff were friendly. I slept on a pull out sofa bed. Could feel the springs on the bed. But overall the location cant be beat. Across the street from kyoto station and close to raku buses perfect for tourists. There are tons of restaurants nearby. The shower gel and shampoo they...

We enjoyed our stay here and found the location perfect to explore kyoto and make a day trip to Osaka. The room was a good size (for Japan) and was very comfortable. We had an excellent view of the train station which is architecturally very impressive! The staff were also accommodating to our needs.

We booked two nights via Japanican package tour (include hi-speed train ride from Tokyo). Hotel is nearby Kyoto Tower and hence easy to find. Room size is rather small (We booked twin bedrooms), service is good, clean and location is great (walking distance to Kyoto station) to move around (via subway) in Kyoto. The only issue with this hotel is...

When we booked this hotel for our stay in Kyoto, we knew that the room would be small, but had no idea it would be that small. It still worked out well for us. The room was clean, we had free wifi and the hotel provided us with free umbrellas on the days that it rained. The staff was friendly...

The room was really small, but we loved it's location right next to Kyoto tower, making it easy to walk to the station (which we love by the way) and also making it easy to just on the metro to explore the city.

Hotel is located right across Kyoto station, Kyoto Tower side (literally right next to the tower). Booked a single room (double bed) for one person, non-smoking. Lobby is located on the second floor. Double bed could fit two people but it would be a tight squeeze as the room was smaller than I expected. No closet/wardrobe to put clothes in...

The location of this hotel is perfect because it is across the street from Kyoto station. Trains, subway and city buses are easy to take from there. The hotel is nice, clean but the room was too small for two people. Ask for a double bed room to have a little bit large room, in the understanding that most hotels...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
