It is a budget inn with a good location and the staff is really friendly. It has not some kind of things that you expect from a hotel, like good towels, soap, etc. but for the price is the service is excellent.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff was very helpful and always friendly, location is great-very peaceful, also the clean, public bath was a highlight. The room was traditional Japanese style which suited us well. Very clean and fun! Highly recommend.

This hotel does well in catering to foreign tourists and out of town guests. Its location is ideal for people wanting to spend a day exploring shrine and temple grounds, and the Kyoto zoo is within easy walking distance too. It's not a hugely modern place, but that's part of its charm. Be forewarned that there is no elevator, so...

This hotel has a great location, only a 5 min. walk along tree-lined canals from Higashiyama Station, it's also right across the canal from the Kyoto Zoo and Municipal Museum of Art. It's also a 30min walk from the beautiful Philosopher's Walk and the Imperial Palace. There's also a 7-11 right around the corner for all your snacking needs. )...

First, it is located right along the river banks lined with beautiful cherry blossoms. We arrived late at night and when we stepped out of the hotel the next morning, we couldn't help exclaiming at the magnificient views! It is close to many major cherry blossom attractions like Heian Shrine, Philosophers' Path, Keage Rail and all tourist sites around Gion,...

Dear SKLam Thank you very much for the very positive comment. We would like to put more effort to satisfy more guests and build a continuous relationship in the future. One thing is that if you remember Seven Eleven at the corner near KTI, if you pass it, then you will see Shirakawa River. If you make a left turn,...

We needed a room on a short notice as our flight was cancelled. And this plus the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, were quite about the real pluses. We were given a Japanese style room, and while exotic, it was really ... japanese. Empty room a table and a tatami. A few, so called mattresses, which my back did...

Love the location, quiet and near a beautiful shrine. Small room, funny bathroom, byt adequate. Price was great! Breakfast was good, especially the japanese one. There is an onsen on premise, which is good for a night wash and soak.

The hotel is simple but good on the first sight. Rooms are spacious which is rare for Japan, there are kimonos provided for every guest, but... There was a sofa in our room which was covered with a blanket/bedspread. I was feeling cold durng the night and take it to warm up and... that was the worst part of all...

We stayed in an Japanese style room from 7-11 Apr 2013. The room was tiny, but clean and bath box could accommodate 1 person at the same time and hosted everything one would need (including a very short tube). Actually, Japanese style rooms might note be for everyone, because one sleeps quite hard and the body might need some nights...

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in a great location, this is it. Don't expect anything else though. I was disappointed with the quality of the room but I guess this is what you get for a cheap rate. I chose a Japanese room which was quite spacious. You have to lay out the futons and...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
