The hostel is located off the main tourist belt in arashiyama. Abt 20 mins walk from daikakuji temple 大觉寺. I opt to take taxi from outside 天龙寺as I was too tired after catching my sagano romantic train , which I was almost late and the 2 hours river boat ride. Peaceful and lovely place to stay . I booked a...

Arrived late at nite and was very pleased with the friendly staff. The staff will try their best to accommodate your needs with a smile in their face. At here, u also can cook your own meals at the kitchen & it's very clean, though they also offer meals. Wifi is also provided free.

I would recommend this hostel to anybody. Made our stay in Kyoto that much better! From the staff, to the facilities to breakfast, everything was awesome. Only one little remark... The wi-fi is not throughout the hostel, but you can always use the common area if you need it... Thank you once again for everything, hope to come back one...

We are a group of friends who stayed for a night. Me and another girl were put up in dorm style room (4 bed) while 3 male friends had a room to themselves. The hostel is extremely beautiful and scenic. The facilities are good, so is their breakfast. They have perfect Onsen and the facilities in terms of common area,...

This is such a wonderful place. The aesthetic magnificence of Kyoto but in a family friendly setting that is spacious, clean and affordable. The rooms would be slightly pricey as a solo traveller but when you get family of five in a dorm it is fabulous. The beds were comfy and had cute features like a lamp, curtains and power....

I spent 4 nights in this hostel. The structure is new, cleaned and very beautiful. Good services, but the breakfast has not a wide selection. Rooms cured and cleaned, especially Japanes style ones. Only one negative note: the Japanes style rooms are separated by a very thin wall, and you have to be lucky with your neighbors (and I was...

If you love to stay at a hostel. This is a highly recommended hostel for you. With their over 3 awards on the shelf as I seen. That's prove this hostel will never disappoint you. A location is not hard to find. There are public bus pass by with only 3-5 minutes walk.

I went and had a look at this hostel before staying but I missed something important. It looks GREAT - really it does. It's clean and new and modern and in a quiet area but - it felt soulless. I felt that the communal area was inadequate for the amount of bedrooms and it was all open plan which just...

Great opportunity to meet nice people from all over the world. People with common interests. The different rooms are all very nice and well maintained. You can find large rooms with bunk beds. With twin beds with Japanese style sleeping. Most rooms share toilets and showers. Some rooms have private showers and toilets. The shared toilets and showers are clean...

A beautiful hostel! We were two families of four traveling together. We stayed four nights in side-by-side bunk bed rooms. Our youngest travelers, aged 5 and 7, loved running off some energy in the grassy courtyard. Our teens loved the free wi-fi in the common area, along with the snacks available in the vending machines. As parents we loved the...

Staying in Western Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Western Kyoto
Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The area's famously tall bamboo groves, monkey park, and impressive vistas during the Hanami cherry blossom viewing season mean that it is busiest in warmer months, though also gorgeous in the fall, when the mountains and hills along the banks turn multi-colored. Historic and engaging, even the rail cars in Western Kyoto seek to exemplify its traditional nature and scenic beauty. Many people, including natives, come to visit the 1,200 rakan statues at the Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple, which is still in use as a religious site.
