We stayed as a family of 4 and had two rooms. It was a bit hard to find when we came out of the station, from the map, I thought you would be able to clearly see it. Howwever, we found it in the end (far right hand end of the station), and its only a few mins walk. The...

This was probably our least favorite hotel on our visit to Japan. They are undergoing renovations so it is a little noisy and not as clean as other hotels. Wifi did not work in our room, and I believe it is inconsistent throughout the hotel. The bed was comfy and amenities were good. I think we may have been spoilt...

New Miyako is perfect for those travel with Shinkansen as the location is just 5-8 minutes away from Shinkansen exit. The service is good (but you may find lots of Group tour at the Lobby which might make loud noise, just chill out the staff work so quick) We stayed in Big executive triple room and I'm so glad we...

Although close to Kyoto Station and so attracts a to of large groups The hotel was fine but felt like it was a little unclean and not comfortable we liked the neighborhood for the convenience of the station but other than that we probably would have found somewhere else to stay

A very convenient place to stay, as it's right near Kyoto Station. The restaurant serves both western and Japanese food (both good) and the staff at the check in counter can speak decent English (as well as a few other languages, apparently). The room was a decent size, which is still small compared to a western one, but it was...

The location across from the train station -- especially arriving during a snow storm -- was very convenient, and it was also very well situated for subways and cabs during our stay there. The hotel is surprisingly very large and, depending on your room, it could be a long walk to your room. The room was very average-- mildew around...

Wth only a few days in Kyoto, the proximity of this hotel to the train station was the main reason de chose it. Literally across the road and you are at Kyoto station. Walk up and over the train station to the other side and you reach the bus station. If you are a light sleeper maybe consider asking for...

We were staying in Kyoto for a few days and this hotel was perfect for that occassion. The location is a huge bonus as its opposite the main station. The staff were very friendly and hotel was clean. Our room was in the aqua crystal wing and was huge compared to the others. Make sure you are in the non...

I just came back from Japan yesterday, my friends and I were happy that we chose this hotel in Kyoto! From the check-in to check-out, everyone we met is really kind and patient. And the guest rooms gave us the warm feeling, got relaxed immediately. Also, the location is really good! You can go all the way down from the...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
