I stayed at Yumiya Komachi in Higashiyama Ward, Matsubaracho,Kyoto Prefecture Japan for a week and the bed was SO comfortable. I chose the western room and it was lovely. The host, Rico, spoke fluent English and was very helpful with booking a tea ceremony in Gion and for great locations to eat. She even put a piece of birthday cake...

The worst place I've ever had the misfortune of staying in. Firstly, it's a non smoking establishment, which is fine - I travel the world, and most hotels are non-smoking. However, my daughter and I are both smokers and because the place is non smoking, we each had a cigarette outside before retiring for the night. Because Japan is such...

A wonderful wooden house tucked away in a side street with Japanese style rooms. I loved it! Rico was very helpful and kind. Up the road Cafe Sagan makes a fantastic breakfast and excellent coffee. The Kennin-Ji temple is a MUST. Kyoto stole my heart :)

We have just spent 6 days in Kyoto and were excited to find out what a great area this was to be staying in. Rico kindly upgraded us when finding out we were on honeymoon which was much appreciated. The best thing about staying with Rico was her recommendations on the area, especially the restaurants. She has made a fantastic...

Location: 10-15mins walk from the buzzling part of Gion. It is consider convenient. The surrounding is primarily residential, it is very quiet at night but very safe (Japan being Japan). Not close to any metro station. Nearest bus stop and train station is probably 10mins walk. Lodging: It is an old japanese residential house transformed into a lodging. The positive...

We are already here, and it's being a wonderful experience. There is no better place to stay in Kyoto, the location couldn't be more perfect. The owner, Rico is amazing, so kind and very helpful with the guest, you feel like staying your own home in Kioto. She's on the office if you need her, whenever you need her, and...

We stayed in the guesthouse for five nights at the end of our 3 weeks Japan journey. It is located in a quiet side road and the Gion district is within short walking distance. Our room upstairs was very spacious and offered good value for money. The house itself is a very interesting old building which could be an awesome...

This 120 year old machiya turned into Japanese style accomodation is undoubtedly the best hidden gem you'll find near Gion area. It's nestle around the old quarter of Kyoto, where you can easily spot out maiko or geisha patrolling around at evening. Not forgetting that the famous Kiyomizu temple & Heian Shrine is just 15 minutes walk away, which make...

This hotel really isn't a hotel. It is a guest house. It is very public. Even the toilet is public. The service is good too. But, there is just only 1 bathroom for every guest turned. The bed is c.t.e. The room has 2 style. The western and the Japanese style. This isrealy an accomodation in the heart of Gion.
