Literally five min from the Kyoto station, and the bus terminal. Great location for taking buses around the city. Smallish, no frills rooms but really friendly, helpful staff. Loved the complimentary onsen on the roof! The free late night snack of ramen noodles from 9 to 11 pm wasn't bad, either :-) I'd recommend this hotel, hands down.

This is by far one of the best hotels I stayed in so far! The hotel is close to the Central Station so it is a great location for tourists who want to visit different parts of Kyoto. The hotel rooms are bigger in comparison with the experience I had in Tokyo and Sendai and they have great great service,...

Touring Kyoto and surrounding areas, our group trekked quite a few miles each day, some carrying heavy backpacks and cameras. Coming back to this centrally located hotel each night was easy. The staff were welcoming and friendly and spoke several languages. But the best part for me was easing sore and tired muscles in the hot baths on the ninth...

We stayed in Dormy Inn Kyoto last week, hoping to catch the Sakura blooms in the city. The location is close to Kyoto station and the bus terminal. Lots of food nearby. The rooms were impeccably clean. The ramen and the Star Trek uniform is like others have mentioned. 1 thing I would like to specially mention is the breakfast....

Great location for exploring Kyoto by rail and bus, VERY central. Fabulous Onsen, Breakfast ok if you wanted Japanese style, (Starbucks very close). Double room was very small. Would definitely stay here again, but book a bigger room. (Also no "non-smoking" available.). Great selection of reasonable priced restaurants on top floor of rail station.

The hotel is just minutes away from the Kyoto station, so it's a perfect home base. The breakfast provided in the morning is impressive -- traditional Japanese offerings as well as Western options. The "Ramen Hour" at night made for a perfect way to end the day. Don't miss the onsen experience in the hotel. The hot springs are relaxing...

We stayed here for three nights in March. The location is perfect as it is less than a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station. Staff were very friendly and obliging. Stayed for 4 nights, great location - easy walk to Kyoto station where there were plenty of food options and had 2 convenient stores nearby. The staff were always super friendly, with the free hot spring/sauna and noodles every night adding to our superb experience. There was also an amazing ramen restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Would stay again!

When you step out of Kyoto main station and keep a few paces to your right, you'll have the dormy inn right in front of you. Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
