The hotel was centrally located close to the Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station. Everything was shiny new and in great condition. A lot of thought had been put in making the room look pleasing, and we liked how they made an inside wall garden that the room looked out to through the bathroom windows. The toilet stall was separated from the bathroom which was great for two people to use the facilities at once, though I with there was soap in the toilet.

The room contained a large TV screen, zojirushi thermos kettle, an actual teapot, "indoor" clothes and pyjamas, and complimentary water and soft drinks in the fridge. There were a variety of disposable items such as razor, bath salts, hair brushes, toothbrush, etc... Toiletries were from Laura Ashley, in big size bottles. There was a deep tub with a separate shower.

We paid for the breakfast buffet which was excellent, though I think the area may get overwhelmed if the hotel is full. In offpeak season in February, at the height of the coronavirus scare, the hotel seemed very under occupied.

Overall the hotel was very charming, and for a 3 star hotel, felt very luxurious.

My brother and I stayed here for 2 nights in January 2020. We stayed in a corner twin room on the 4th floor. Check in was smooth and efficient. This hotel is one of Kyoto’s newer hotels and definitely on the higher end of the the spectrum. Im a big fan of the Solaria Nishitetsu hotel brand having stayed at other properties throughout Japan previously. This is the brand’s first luxury hotel. The room was modern with some traditional Japanese elements thrown. The beds were amongst the best Ive slept on in Japan. The mattress and pillows were nice and soft but firm enough for a good nights sleep. Bathroom was the typical Japanese hotel setup of one room split between a shower area and a deep bathtub. Water drains through the floor. Corner room came with a large couch and coffee table.

The hotel is located on the Western shore of the Kamogawa river. It s located in a prime area of Kyoto near plenty of shopping and dining options. The Kyoto subway has a station right outside the hotel. For those traveling to this hotel by train take the subway from Kyoto station. The hotel is located by the Kyoto City hall subway station which is one stop east of Karasuma Oike station.

For those interested there is a Japanese bath (onsen) locate don the bottom floor of the hotel that is open most of the day. Never went there so I cant rate that. Highly recommend this hotel to those looking for s high quality hotel in central Kyoto. The price for the corner twin was quite reasonable though we did visit during January which is definitely off peak season.

This was one of the most beautiful rooms we’ve ever stayed in! We got a garden view (not sure if all rooms have this view) and the whole room looked out on their indoor wall garden. Breakfast buffet is most definitely worth it- tons of Japanese and western options. Breakfast staff didn’t speak much English but it was no problem at all and the front desk staff spoke some to help answer any questions. Would 100% stay here again!

Dear.Madisonmurph We sincerely appreciate for your wonderful review. All rooms do not have the garden view but personally I really love it too! There are some other room types so please check them out on our website. In addition, you also loved our hotel buffet so we are also grateful to hear that! Probably, we made you feel unconfortable with the conversation but we are so happy that you thought no problem with that... We just put an effort on the language skills in order to make all guests feel confortable. Thank you so much once again and hope to see you soon in the near future. Please take care of yourself until that. Best regards, Hanako Tono from front desk

Have not been in Kyoto for a while because of no entry of Japan for foreigners. Booked a room on the basement with a garden view. We were allocated the first room from the corridor, that is next to the ice machine. I immediately noticed it was very noisy whenever someone is getting ice from the machine. Fortunately the reception staff was nice enough to give us a third floor room with a Kamo River view.

The hotel is very new. You pick the amenties at the reception yourself, including shower cap, toothbrush, etc. The room is not spacious, in fact a bit cramped. But hotels in Kyoto is expensive, even not during high season. The bathroom is relatively large comparing the size of the room itself. We used the public bath on the basement so did not use the bath inside the room. Fortunately there is still a wardrobe for storing your clothes. The bed is comfy. The room is facing east, so when the weather is good, the window can get very hot in the morning.

Breakfast restaurant is located on the ground floor. There is not abundant of food selection but enough for a full morning meal.

I parked the car with hotel and the charge is JPY3,000 per day. Location of the hotel is very convenient, walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Given the price tag, it is a very good choice.

We had a great stay at the Solaria. Breakfast was included for our stay and it was really good. Eggs cooked to order and a good range of Japanese and Western options. Hotel is in a great location on the river and there is easy access to the Sanjo train station and the Tozai subway line. Many restaurants along Pontocho and adjoining streets. Easy walk to main shopping area and Gion too. Rooms (2) were both large and very clean. Rooms are serviced every second day but towels and bottled water etc are replenished daily. The hotel has a private bath area but we did not use it. The washer/dryers were very handy too. Highly recommend!

Impressive stay at this hotel with Solaria Nishitetsu hospitality and amenties.

The location is good, you can walk to many attractions, shops, restaurants, and also famous pontocho alley. The hotel is on the riverside so you can benefit the view there. There is subway station and bus stop around the hotel but for me I use taxi app which is a good choice in rainy day.

For the room, I stayed in garden twin room which the room size is a bit more space if compare for the normal room size in Japan especially bathroom. At this room type, you will find a small garden space outside the bathroom window which is really relax and chill. Another benefit is that as the room locate on basement floor as same as the public bath so somehow it feels like you may have your own public bath just few steps from your room. No need to change the elevator from your room to the public bath. Also this is the plus point because the elevator for most of guest rooms will be another wing while this wing will use only for the guests who stay on the basement floor and public bath user so no need to take a long wait in rush hour and check out time. For the con side, it happened that there are stains on the window so the garden view may not that clear. Plus it on basement floor so the room may not that bright as in upper floor.

Overall the cleanliness and comfortable of the room are good. I have a nice stay here.

During stay, I found no porter anyway so I'm not sure if there is or is not.

For luggage free service, recommend to contact the hotel for the information in advance.

Ps. Double check the open hours of public bath day by day! Don't trust the operating hour listed on the info paper you get upon check-in. I miss the chance to use the bath on my first night because the staff told me the normal open hours but when I arrive the bath already closed early that day.

I have stayed at this hotel for the first time for my business in Kyoto. I've stayed many hotels in Kyoto, but this hotel is currently one of the best hotels in Kyoto. As other people said, it's location is the best in Central(Downtown) Kyoto, close to Shiyakusho Mae(City Hall Front) Station of Subway Tozai(east -west) Line, and also 3 min. walking distance to Sanjo(3rd street) Station of Keihan Railway's Main Line. The view is better from the rooms in Kamo River-side. Everything in the room was clean. I will come back to this hotel again, and recommend it to everybody!!

This was a lovely modern hotel. Initially we were disappointed with our room as it was very small and not really suitable for two people as there was very little wardrobe space or luggage storage. I brought this to reception’s attention and we were offered a different room which was more suitable for a couple.
Breakfast was delicious however the hotel seemed busy some mornings and it was necessary to provide your name and return to your bedroom to await a table.
All the staff were very helpful. The hotel was in a great location for exploring Kyoto and it was an easy walk to a variety of restaurants, station and shops. The onsen was lovely and relaxing to visit

I chose to stay in the Twin Room with View Bath, because I knew I wouldn't be able to access the public bath (which look amazing in the pics), and so happy I went with this. The bath with the garden wall was my favourite part of the room (which was really good in evert other way too), and the provided mineral bath salt meant a soak every night. Breakfast was sometimes busy, but still no long waits for omelettes or filling the buffet. I took some video meetings in the room, and the internet was fine for that, although my room had no desk the sofa with the table worked fine. For my first visit in Kyoto, I had no problems moving around with the metro or bus, or just walking since you are in the city centre (Pontocho was great for dinner with a river-walk after).

Hi OP. This is how we did it. Haruka express from KIX to Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma subway line from the station (K11) to Karsuma Oike (K08) and transfer to the Karasuma Oike Tozai line (T13). One stop to Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae - City Hall (T12). Exit is the closest - you need to lug bags up the stairs, but it is then literally 2 mins walk. Head towards the river / Sanjo station (i.e. the direction you're walking) and at the first street turn right. There's the hotel. Alternatively Exit 3 has an elevator / escalators that take you into the Hotel Okura. Exit this hotel, cross the main road at the lights and turn left and follow directions from Exit 1. Enjoy your trip :)
