I went to Kyoto for business trip with my colleagues in end of September 2014. It was a very comfy ryokan for business trip people, very clean and the staffs were very welcome and helpful. My colleagues and I were really enjoy staying there, sleeping on traditional japanese style beds and had free green tea in each rooms. The location...

All the descriptions provided were correctly met. The amenities were all as promised and the staff were very polite and helpful. The location is great, very close to the Kyoto station, there is enough place to park the bicycles upfront and we could leave our bags there while we explored the city. There is no breakfast provided at this time...

Stayed here with a friend in late October 2013 and found it to be very reasonable, clean, and the staff welcoming. The traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent and, if you've never tried it, you should. To those complaining that it is expensive, a ryokan just doors down was double the price. Japan is expensive, so this was a good price...

I stayed in this ryokan for 3 nights. This is a true Japanese inn experience, with tatami mats, yakata, small table on the floor, etc. I had a private bathroom. Everything was very clean and the building was well-maintained. The owner was lovely and and spoke English. The ryokan is less than a 10 minute walk to the JR Kyoto...

We stayed at this ryokan on our first night in Kyoto. The place is 10 minutes walking from the station. The ryokan is a proper Japanese accommodation: tatami, rolled up beds... you are given yukata (a Japanese dressing gown), towels and the opportunity to use a Japanese style bathroom. Be aware: the water is the same for all guests, never...

This is a really pleasant place to stay. Rooms are clean, and in the traditional Japanese style. Wifi is free, and is very fast. The owners are incredibly nice and very very polite, and cook a mean Japanese breakfast (highly recommended). Location is very close to the JR station, so easy to find upon arrival. The only minor issue I...

We stayed at Ryokan Kyoraku for 4 nights in a double rom with shared bathroom and found it to be clean, comfortable and very convenient. It's just a short walk from Kyoto train station and close to many of the attraction in central Kyoto. The hotel is also close to the bus terminal where you can catch buses to all...

Probably not a 'real thing' but still better than some other places claiming to the 'traditional Japanese style'. Comfortable, clean, pleasant and convenient. Also, nicely located in the walking distance from the main JR station. Plus you get a kimono-pajamas for the night:)

The location is really good. Very close to Kyoto Station. The ryokan is more like a hotel and not a real ryokan but it worth it. We spend 4 nights there, in a japanese style room - sharing bathroom and toilets. What I liked is that you feel just like home. There is a shower room and a japanese bathroom...

“If you really want a ryokan experience, I'm afraid you'll have to pay for one... there's no such thing as a "budget ryokan". Either go splurge (which I don't know why you would do in Kyoto with so much to see/do), or save your money and stay elsewhere far cheaper.”
