My single room is tiny by Western standards, but adequate. The actual name of the hotel is Daiichi Grand Hotel Sannomiya..so don't look for Hotel Area One if you make a reservation here. Presumably catering mostly for Japanese guests there are not a lot of signs in English. My room at the back overlooking the Ikuta Shrine has a nice outlook...

Pay attention, this hotel is now called Daiichi Grand Hotel Kobe Sannomiya. The rooms are very spacious and clean although the stereo system was a bit old. The reception is situated on the second floor but there are no marks. Hotel is quite away from railway station (especially if you get the wrong indications....).

Stayed for 2 nights in 3 persons room. The Good.......... > Very good location (walking distance from Sannomiya station/ shopping area/restaurants/temple) > The room consider big if compare to other budget hotel in Japan. > The room was clean > Free welcome drinks in the bar > Shiseido/Kose shampoo and shower gel > Comfy bed and pillow > Staff were...

For the price we paid, it was excellent. Facility itself is bit old but service from staff overcomes the physical appearance (not too bad, just feel bit like in 90's) Location is not too bad. It is a bit of walk from Sannomiya Station but do not try short-cut. I tried to do some short-cut but I was completely lost....

We stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions during our stay - before and after we visited Tokyo and although it wasn't as modern as the other hotel we stayed in, it was more than suitable and still very comfortable. No problem with the size of the room, it was adequate and more than expected for a hotel in Japan....

We stayed at five different hotels while in Japan and by far this was the worst one especially for the price. Bathroom looked like it came right out of an RV trailer with no electricity. Room was very small and very stuffy. Had two rooms for four people and we had to sleep together (2) in the same small double...

The hotel is located in a cluster of streets that come alive only at night and offers great accessibility to food, shopping and transport. Although bustling at night, we still felt safe walking back and the good soundproofing ensures that we would not be disturbed at night. The room we stayed in was in a visibly used condition with the...

Japanese hotel rooms are quite cramped small yet most of them are neat and tidy, a remarkable attribute of the Japanese who are perhaps the world's best proponents of minimalism. This is my first time to try a Japanese Hotel and here is my verdict if this hotel: UPSIDE 1. The location is good which is right smack in the...

This hotel is located next to an entertainment area which is pedestrian only at night. Access is poor due to this and it took us a while before locating it. We stayed in a 4 person room which was quite large but as it was spring, the aircon was not activated and we had to open the windows. The noise...

After only paying a total of 15,000yen for 6 people I was not overly optimistic about my expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Staff were attentive and patient to our large group. Amenities were plentiful. The room was very spacious by Japanese standards, and we were also given a welcome drink and a choice of two pillows. The location is very...
