There's a tourist dispatch center nearby, so you could see how convenient its location is. Right near the West Lake. It's really big. When you call a cab you need to tell them which gate to pick you up: the east or the west gate, which are located at different streets - the Hotel itself is a whole block. A...

A perfect place, very well kept unlike many Chinese managed hotels, offering great rooms, excellent Chinese restaurants not found on trip advisor, and a wonderful Japanese restaurant. This was and is a gem. Enjoy the spacious inner garden, and the magnificent corridors connecting all 6 towers. The hotel guides you to your room, using your key when using the elevator,...

I stay at this hotel several times per year while here for conferences. The front office staff is phenomenal, always helpful and easy-going especially Daniel, the front office manager. The hotel is always clean and comfortable. The lobby is pleasant and inviting. I have nothing but good things to say about the place. Very convenient to historical sights.

Gorgeous hotel and wonderful open spaces and modern artwork. The rooms were huge and very modern. Perhaps he nicest hotel we have stayed in all of China. The only slight to the hotel is that there seemed to be lots of ‘off’ smells throughout the hotel. Perhaps due to the specialty cigar and smoke shop. A few hotel tips: •...

My son lives in Shanghai and we came down to this area while I was visiting him. It's an hour train ride south of Shanghai and a major resort for the Chinese. The hotel was close to the rail station, the price was fair, the hotel clean and well maintained, the staff very friendly and helpful. There are many fine...

I lived in China for several years and have learned that there is huge variance in Chinese "5 star" hotels. As a result, I tend to stick to the big international hotel chains. My husband and I were visiting Shanghai and the surrounding area for a few weeks and I was having trouble finding good options for Hangzhou. Based on...

Used this hotel to stay in relation to Hangzhou marathon. Great location, also to acces the beautiful park and lake (just enter right across the street). Decent service, good rooms. the Food & Beverage was unfortunately below standard, particularly the breakfast was just not good/bad. Improving the F&B would bring this hotel to another level.

I have stayed in this hotel for a dozen times starting from year 2000. The hotel underwent a massive and highly costly renovation in 2010 and went through a major re-branding exercise. The hotel was awarded Platinum 5-star by the China National Tourism Administration, which is often called the "six star award" above and beyond the 5* rating. I have...
