The hotel's (2 buildings side by side) old building (west building) was built in 30's, and was once the tallest building in Guangzhou. Now the building is classified as historical site, and protected by the city government. It is located at the Pearl river bank of the old city of Guangzhou, one side of the hotel enjoys a spectacular view...

The Aiquan hotel, is one of the oldest hotels in Guanzhou and it shows. The location is good, but the hotel as a whole is in need of a complete refurbishment. The rooms in general are dirty, with poor levels of customer service. I moved rooms 3 times before finding one that did not having peeling wallpaper and the smell...

Located by the Pearl Riverside, its location is so ideal. Close to Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street, just about 15 minutes walk. Even Beijing Lu is not far from the hotel, for both shopping areas, it is just about 12 yuan by taxi. The room is so clean and spacious with adequate facilities. I did not encounter any negative experience...

Stay away from this hotel. Room was unclean. Bathroom had mold all over. Toilet handle was partially broken. Entire hotel smelled of mildew, including room. Upon checking into room, there was this sewage on the bathroom floor near the toilet. Found out later that the drain pipes would periodically bubble up sewage.

Old and stale rooms, strong cigarette smoke smell everywhere in the hotel. The rooms do get cleaned but everything is just so old that its uncomfortable. If you don't mind this, then the view is great if you get a river view room... Service was friendly but reception spoke very little english, make sure you are equipped with chinese characters...

“Pay a bit more and get the room facing the Zhu Jiang River because the room is bigger and cleaner. At least you get a scene of the river.”

“Choose a room to the river side”
 of 5 bubbles UliK834, 18 Feb 2014 | Read review
“Choose the better rooms on the 6th floor and up facing the River. Also from the hotel, one can walk about 2 -3 blocks to go buy advanced tour tickets for the Pearl River Cruise box office which opens at 4 PM. Also find Haizhu Square (walking distance), the biggest wholesale warehouse shopping center (open to the public) where you can find millions of items at a fraction of the cost. Really worth walking over there.”
