Found the hotel to be very clean. The room I was in was nice but it did have the remains of stale cigarette smoke which did put me off. All the bedding was clean and crip as were the towels in the barroom. Bed was comfortable too. All the meals were Buffett type and the select of the food very good. Very courteous reception staff and dinning staff. Won't mind staying there again. Did not use the facilities available.

the room amd bathroom are good but otherwise deplorable
1- internal telephone do not work so if you need anything you need to go to reception
2 I do not understand their choice of TV channels very poor choices, useless and they do not have the free for all standard chemmels
3 Front desk is manned by inexperienced young men
4- the duty manager is nowhere to be seen his name is posted but unreacheable
I booked for two nights they called me twice to confirm my second night which was ok but they did not act upon it and room was not cleaned when I got back

The hotel is relatively good value in comparison to others that I have stayed in Saudi Arabia however the current upkeep of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired and poses a potential health hazard. The main lobby area, restaurant and corridors look clean and reasonably maintained, my room was far from cared for, extensive mould on the bath surround, peeling bathroom ceilings, filthy skirting boards, frayed sheets and towels, extremely dirty air conditioning vents. On the 3 days I stayed no one came to clean my room, my colleague had to request a room clean and fresh towels. The breakfast was passable at best with level of service well below what I am used to. The reception staff are welcoming and efficient. Not a hotel I would stay in again or recommend to anyone I know.

Property is in a good location and the receptionist are polite and helpful, but room services pathetic they never pick up call and only when I complained in the reception. Did they make my room once in four days of my stay that also they did not replace any coffee or tea. Face towel was given only on request. It seems we have run out of service staff. Not worth spending, USD 100 per night. On business trip, we become tired, and when we see the bed same as I left in the morning, it is depressing. I felt like I was staying in an apartment rather than a four star hotel.

I was booked this hotel for two weeks but had stayed somewhere else after the first few days, I then had to come back to my room to find out that my card doesnt work, went to the lobby where they activated my card just by asking what room I was in, when entering the room I didnt find my stuff and found someone else's, upon checking with the reception I found out that I was checked out by some employee of the hotel and another Male guest was checked in my room! It was around 11 p.m and I was really tired and didnt have the energy to fight, they simply got me another room and sent me on my way, so many wrong things happens with the management of this hotel, until now I was not compensated for my stuff that was originally in the room, and no other guest should ever feel safe here as it turns out, you can just give the room number to reception and they will activate a card for you! Very terrible and it will for ever be a horrid experience for me.

Stayed on business because our normal hotel was booked up. I was impressed with the cleanliness, quite and size of the rooms and wished I could have made this our regular business hotel.

Good:
Free breakfast
Fast room service
Off street parking
Friendly staff
Arabic and English (quite good actually)
Late Checkout was no problem

Bad:
Slow Internet
Crowded parking
Food from room service wasn't very good for the price, it was acceptable, but if I'd gone out I could have had much better for the same price or less.

The Golden Tulip is about juxtapositions. Nice hotel by the Dammam Corniche. The rooms are not just "spacious," they're downright palacial. My room 301 was huge. However, I wouldn't say it's opulent. The furniture is nice but dated. Couches are typical of what you'd find in an average Saudi home. The bed was comfortable and the window curtains really closed well and keeps the room dark. Good for sleeping. And one day, I slept all the way to 5:30pm!

But it's dated so things look old and some things are wearing out. Like the desk chair. Losing its support and lost one of the wheels. Housekeeping didn't seem to notice nor have anyone come to replace/repair the chair.

Housekeeping is also a bit strange. When I asked for it, they did a decent job. Replaced the linens (mismatched), but they didn't seem to come daily (to be fair, on many days, I wouldn't leave until the afternoon - but never did I hear anyone knock). One the days they did come, it was uneven. Upon check-in, the bathroom had a nice loofah that I used. Housekeeping got rid of that when replacing the towels. On the second cleaning, they left a dirty cleaning rag, took away the dirty towels but didn't replace them. At all.

At breakfast, the attendant wasn't entirely warm and friendly, but he was efficient - I think. The buffet was another inconsistency. This hotel breakfast is the demonstration of a kitchen re-using whatever banquet function food remained from the day before. Whether club sandwiches, sauteed vegetables, roasted potatoes, or whatever. If the function didn't finish it the day before, it was being served for breakfast - and it looked like hell at times. Luckily, they didn't extend this approach to the pastries which were quite fresh and enjoyable. Fresh fruit? Perfunctory. Especially in the Middle East where they typically cherish fruit, maybe there would be sliced watermelon or melon. Maybe. There is an omelette station but the guy manning it was there maybe twice in eight days. Juices were fresh and nice. The hot tea with mint was an enjoyable beverage served piping hot, but the last three days: No mint.

Hotel staff was perfectly fine. I didn't interact with them much (mostly the breakfast host) and they were typically pleasant and accommodating. Check out took a bit longer than I'm used to since they wanted to send someone to check the room. There is a pool in the health spa that's open during the day and then from 9pm to midnight. I wasn't able to investigate but I did check out their Business Suite/Smoking Lounge, a dual-purpose room for working on a computer with printer and smoking. I can't imagine non-smokers would like this. I used it on a couple occasions to smoke my cigar and catch up on some movies (there is a large-screen tv in the room). It's a comfortable space.

So while the overall experience was Good, where this hotel really shines is in their air conditioning. It's superb - and a bit out of control. When you set the temp to 18C in most hotel rooms, it takes a good while for it to get to temperature. No so at the Golden Tulip. This AC Rocks The House. I'm freezing in the room. My gear is freezing. This is great in the Middle East. Especially here in Dammam where it's both blazing and humid. Frigid AC is a very welcome situation.
