Even though me and my Russian wife both had our international passports with us, my wife was denied access to the hotel on the basis that she didn't have her domestic passport with her. Fair enough, our fault, should have researched the changes to the law. The staff, however, were very unhelpful and had zero empathy with our situation. When we asked where we should stay instead, since noone would accept us, the staff at reception simply shrugged and told us it was not their problem if we had to sleep outside. Had to cancel our booking. Currently looking for a place to sleep. Terrible, terrible service, and not a very nice welcome to Russia after many hours of travel.
Good hotel, located close to main NN railway station. several bars and restaurants on the first floor. But elevators are often busy - you have to consider your time accordingly. Standard rooms are really small, which may be enough for couples, but not for colleagues! If youк travel is a business trip, book one room for each traveller. interior of the hotel and rooms is in modern style, many sokets, lamps, good bathroom facilities. And the variety of meals for breakfast is also very impressive! Right in fron ot main entrance to the hotel there is a big parking!
Friendly staff, poor english, very small rooms, very bad breakfast, old communist style ... These are the first things that I can remember about Marins Park Hotel. Location is not so good, not so bad. If you like long walks in the neighborhood, you could find nice paths to walk around Breakfast was very poor and not tasty. Anyway, if you have only couple of nights in the city and you are looking for a budget hotel, then Marins Park could be an option. But if you have higher expectations and standards, then you should search for another place.
Room was very basic, and hotel had a bit of a shabby feel to it. English of person at check-in was weak. The hotel offers unusual amenities, though. Apparently, each floor has a public area at the end of the hall where guest can iron clothes. My room was next to one such area where a couple was engaged in a loud conversation while ironing, prompting me to ask for another room. The hotel also has an in-house strip club, which it advertises in the lobby and the rooms. Breakfast buffet was fairly varied. I would not stay here again.
We stayed at Marins Park in Yekaterinburg and it was much better. This one had a nice big room and clean beds and towels but the maid didn’t take our laundry and then when we took it to reception later that day they said it was too late so we missed out. Our room was “cleaned” although they don’t make the beds and we were only left with two towels, no new hand towels or foot towels. The drink dispenser in the foyer was empty and the coffee shop was not staffed. Breakfast was good. There is a strip club next to the restaurant which is odd. Ok for the price but not overly impressed with promised service.
The Marins Park Hotel is very close to the railway station, but approximately 3-4km to city center. Very friendly staff, but the four tiny elevators do not manage all those hotel guests. Better and faster to use the stairs. The rooms are extremely small, two people can just barely be inside at the same time. Bathroom is tiny too and completely overheated. No way to turn heater off. Breakfast is ok, but very long lines - Nothing special. Again very nice waiter, but it all takes too long. For sure this hotel is overrated with 4 stars. It’s nice and clean, but I would say maximum 2 stars.
We spent a week in Marine Park and were treated very well. Good location, good Russian breakfast, good internet, nice and helpful service and free (!) laundry service the same day. All in all a deal you will get no where in Europe or the US.
Good budget hotel at Lenin Square, between Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and Nizhny railway station. City bus stop just in front of the hotel, from where you can take city bus for Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and Railway station. Rooms on upper floor towards river side are good. Rooms are small but cosy. Bathrooms are well equipped. Good wi fi speed. Complementary breakfast excellent.
As is typical in a small city, this hotel was average. If you are looking for a place to just put your head down then this will be fine, anything else you need to consider what you want. We stayed here as a group of friends, managed to get a bite to eat (food was decent), the reception area was very busy (checkout was crazy/long queues)...
