Sergievskaya Hotel was a wonderful experience. Nizhny is an incredible city and staying at this hotel makes the whole difference. We felt so welcome, the rooms (suites) were incredibly big, complete and clean. The receptionists were so kind and welcoming. Walking distance (8 minutes) through a marvelous area to the city center. No doubt will stay there again if we have the chance to go back to Nizhny.
Slightly tricky to find, and not as obvious an exterior as we would have expected from the room we had booked. In truth a guest house or B&B rather than hotel, but otherwise excellent. The tram brought us straight from the railway station and dropped us almost outside, and everywhere was walking distance, although there is a big hill! We had a very smart looking room complete with 4-poster bed, jaccuzzi style bath and gallons of hot water. We were welcomed inside by a lady who communicated by google translate, smiles and gestures, checked us in, took our breakfast order and cooked it for us in the morning. We could have eaten in the dining room, but our suite had a table and we chose to have it delivered to our room ... luxury!
First things first, Sergievskaya is a guesthouse, not a hotel and not a BnB as it does not serve breakfast. Judging it as a guesthouse I give it five stars as it's great. Not too far away from the city centre with 24 hour Spar supermarket nearby, the rooms are spacious and clean, bed very comfortable to sleep in. Clean kitchen with fridge available to make brekafast in and very friendly and helpful administrator. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
I was a guest at this hotel for tree days. From the Nizhniy Novgorod International Airport (Strigino) SVO, I took a taxi and made around 40 minutes to the hotel, and cost me 416 RUB. The hotel is located in the historical area of the city, within 10 to 15 minutes walk to Kremlin and shopping area. Near the hotel you can find a bank to exchange money and a big shop where you can buy also cooked food. The hotel is very clean, well heaten, has a very good location, quiet, safe, the hotel staff didn't speak English, but was very friendly and helpful. The hotel don't provide breakfast, only tea and coffee. It has a well equipped kitchen, with fridge, microwave, tableware. From the hotel you can walk to the main attractions of the area. The room where I stayed, was big, with comfortable bed, the roo view wasn't so great (was in a house backyard, but did't botherd me), with TV (only Russian channels), with free WI FI which worked well. When I left, I had an early flight (5 A.M., and Tatiana called me a taxi to get to the airport; the drive was about 30 minutes and cost me 630 RUB. In conclusion, I had a comfortable stay at this hotel, I totally recommend it, and if I will return to Nizhny Novgorod I will definitlly return to it.…
