Hotel itself is located in nice looking building. Short drive to pretty much anything in the city. Big rooms, comfortable beds and nice views. Breakfast is tasty. Service is 5 star. Thanks for everything.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in mid-March. First, the good things: The rooms are clean (although dated), the bed is comfortable, it's very quiet, bottled water and all the amenities are supplied, there is lots of hot water and the shower pressure is GREAT, and there's a great restaurant attached complete with a 3-lane bowling alley for a bit of extra fun. The staff are friendly, although their English is VERY limited so we relied on the "Google Translate" app to communicate with them. Breakfast is an extra fee of 450 rubles if it's not included in the price of your room. Now, the cons. If you have mobility issues, you should know that there is a 12" step up to get into the shower. I'm only 5' tall and I found the shower to be extremely tiny (I kept bumping into the walls). As mentioned previously, the rooms are dated and could use an update. The safe didn't work, nor did the desk lamp. To get the free Wifi you had to have a Russian telephone number, but fortunately the only English-speaking reception staff gave us her number to use for the duration. You have to log back in every 12 hours or so. As far as location goes, it's far from the Kremlin and the historic part of town, but it's only $3-4 for a taxi to get there. One interesting thing we discovered is that if you order a car and pay ,it's a lot cheaper but the cars aren't as nice. I think it's an Uber-type service. If you book a non-smoking taxi, you can pay by credit card and the cars are clean - but it's about double the price. The drivers don't speak any English so it's a quiet ride - don't expect them to point out the highlights unless you speak Russian! All in all, this hotel served its' purpose but if I went back to Nizhny I would stay in the historic part of town.…
Nizhny Novogord was one of our stops on Trans-Siberian trip. Hotel Nikol was good deal for the price. We found the place clean, very secure, and friendly. Breakfast is not included. Staff speaks English. The beds were firm but not uncomfortable. It is very close to Metro stop Kanavinskaya which is only one stop from the main Metro station, Moskovskaya, where you can walk through an underground tunnel to reach the train station, Nizhny Novogord-Moskovskiy.
Good hotel close to the bridge that cross the Volga river. If you have business in Bor, this is the right place. The room was quite but many light from the street during the night. Breakfast is continental, in the middle. Reception was very pleasant. Good hotel for business travel, even quite away from center of the city.
I had an occasion to stay at NIKOL on a business trip. A neat and clean business hotel which offers value for money. Rooms are good and comfortable. Restaurant offers fairly good choice. Breakfast spread good but limited. free Wi-Fi. Staff is very helpful. Overall good experience. Worth trying.
