I've just come back from taking 40 people on a school tour of Moscow & St Petersburg. This hotel is right by a metro station so very good transport-wise. It has a large, marble entrance lobby and the rooms are roomy enough, with comfy beds and good showers. The views are not great but the winows block out the noise...

The hotel was basic but clean and modern. The breakfast was not very appealing, hard bread, chopped up frankfurters, watered down juices. Also the same tray of beetroot/tomatoes/salad seemed to be wheeled out for both breakfast and dinner time. Restaurant staff were over eager to clear away dishes, often waiting beside you as you finished your last bite so that...

This hotel is just brilliant. High-camp stalinist concrete monstrosity slapped down in the middle of a pretty city. Yeah, so it's noisy. It's rammed with tour groups and teenagers who run amok up and down the corridors keeping you awake. It's brutally ugly. Starchy sheets with that slightly vinegary smell that you get. However, it is also an experience, it...

First of all, this is mainly a response to those people who have been putting down this hotel. But the truth is that I loved this place. Even more so after having read all those bad reviews. First, the service at the lobby and the restaurant was first class. I have never seen more friendly Russian people (this was my...

Rooms were very clean and well laid out even if it was a long walk from the main entrance lobby. The evening meals were quite good overall - even if the salads are all varation on a theme of mayonnaise; the breakfasts were poor, though, with no bacon/sausage apart from, once, some fragments of Frankfurters. Lobby is spacious and free...

I`ve been to this hotel for 3 times now but there won`t be a next time. The good thing about the hotels location is the metro station and the cemetary right next to it, otherwise it feels a bit remote. The staff especially in the counter the last visit was unbelievably rude and didn`t seem to speak very good english....

This hotel is still stuck in the soviet days. It took us 45min in a que to check in. They still don't have designated non smoking rooms. All the hotel services are delivered overpriced and without a smile. You pay for internet - most other hotels we stayed at in russia it was free. There is no complimentary drinking water....

We were there at the conclusion of a fortnight's visit to Russia, over the period of White Nights. Undoubtedly, that was our first mistake, based on price (US $600/night for a twin). The good: subway is nearby. That's the only good part. The bad: cranky, mean, grouchy front desk staff. Example: one must pay to register the passport. Fee: 3...
