I stayed in St. Petersburg for two days to see some opera at the Mariinsky Theatre, and for this purpose History Hotel is perfect. It takes three minutes to walk to the old Mariinka, four minutes to the new opera theatre, and ten minutes to the new Mariinsky concert hall. Rooms are spacious and high, there is free wifi, and...

History Hotel on the Griboedova Channel, St.Petersburg: Short distance from Mariinsky Theater 8300-400 metres). From my point of view this is the best attribute of the hotel. Friendly young professionals at the reception with satisfactory/some skills in English. Standard room number 14: nice, clean, economical. This room was in backyard. Probably more "luxurious" rooms available for higher price. Adequate WLAN....

This hotel is basic by my standards. However the standard of cleanliness is high and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedding wasn't very comfortable, and the sheet did not seem to fit the mattress. Food standard (breakfast) was good. Wi-fi signal was strong throughout. The location was ok, walking distance to transport hubs.

One of the worst hotels I've ever been: 1. Very thin walls, I thought there were construction works in the room next door before I recognized that the noise was caused by the bath air conditioner and the shower by my neighbour. I coul hear almost everything from your neighbours, for example as a bottle top felt to the ground...

We were given a huge apartment with two separate rooms, big enough to be confortable. We loved the fact that you can breathe history in this hotel: it has been restored but keeps its own soul and Russian style. Clean and well furnished. Breakfast was simple but acceptable. Definitely valuable for money. Almost every member of the staff spoke English....

Incredible old building. Restored under strict requirements. Great ambiance. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Very welcoming. Location is first-class. Police station down the street, historic canal, established and well-maintained neighborhood. Walking distance to most of the city's sights. Of special note is a low-key, almost hidden Georgian restaurant/tavern below street level to the left of the hotel. It's still the...

Very good and quiet place along with it's great location: its only 10 minutes on foot from the city's beautiful sightseeings. We enjoyed the classical style of the building and how it was maintained. Spacious rooms, skyhigh ceilings. Very impressive! Staff was very friendly, though not everyone spoke good english, it sometimes affected the communication. The room was tidy and...

Good location, the main station subway is close, about 5 minutes walking. Staff very kind, russian or english language. They left us to check-in before time. Room so wide and beautiful sights. Generous breakfast and homemaid cakes. Excellent choice.

Location wise is ok, roughly 30min slow walk to Nevsky prospect and 20 min to Isakievsky cathedral. Area is quite and can park the car on the embankment, although no security parking. Staff was friendly and helpful, didn't have any problems with them. Rooms are very spacious but lack of renovation and new bed linings. No room service at all....

“Rooms facing canal may be noisy due to construction and may have mosquitoes in summer. Don't expect bed sheets to be changed daily. I don't think they were changed during our stay (which is fine - we don't change sheets every day at home).”
